3.0 out of 5 stars Not too bad!, 19 May 2014
Had this lawn mower for approximately ten years, and it is good that this mower lasted for at least this time.

Used to mow medium sized slightly uneven patchy lawns on average once every ten days or so.

Always mowed when grass was not too long (no longer than about 6 inches tall) and when grass was not (too) wet, otherwise mowing becomes quite difficult with increased resistance/workload for the mower.

This mower recently stopped working due to suspected wearing down of the carbon brushes. Unfortunately replacement carbon brushes are not available separately. An entire motor assembly has to be purchased instead which costs almost as much as a new mower! Not good!

This model mower is supposed to hover. However, this mower did not seem to hover at all and there was always some resistance while pushing/pulling the mower!?

Due to accumulation of grass cuttings along the inside of the cutting blade housing, and with subsequent increase in mower weight due to the cuttings, resistance to moving the mower across the lawn increased after mowing for a little while. Quite often the mower would then tend to "dig in" instead of moving along which made mowing difficult. The accumulated cuttings would then have to be removed from the cutter housing in order to decrease mower weight and allow more or less normal mowing to continue.

A year or so after purchase, noticed a rattling noise within the start button assembly on the handle. The mower still seemed to work so not much attention was made to this rattling. But on dis-assembly of the start button unit after the mower stopped working, it was found that the power factor correction capacitor had broken off completely (for some reason?) and was the source of the rattling noise all along!

One of the orange motor run squeeze handles along the handle broke off recently.

A disadvantage of this mower, as for all corded electric mowers, is the location of the power cord in relation to the mower has to be monitored at all times so that the mower does not run over and sever the cord.

The cutter housing is extended a bit too far beyond the cutter, so that it doesn't permit mowing closer than about 2~3 inches from a wall (or similar) with respect to the sides of the mower, and no closer than about 6 inches with respect to the front or the rear of the mower. This means that the grass edge will require trimming using other tools after mowing.

Don't think it likely I would purchase another similar "hover" mower again. Will most likely purchase a wheeled model which also allows close to edge cutting.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Overall, 21 Dec. 2008
I bought this dictionary primarily for solving crossword puzzles.

Although it lacks some definitions, it aids considerably in solving most crossword puzzles.

Nice clear LCD; many other dictionaries have cheapish looking LCD's which are somewhat distracting. Keys are easy to press; many other dictionaries require substantially more force on keys to operate them - this I find to be a bit annoying.

There are only two negatives with this unit.
1) Not enough definitions
2) Results of searches are limited to the first 50 (I think) results. Results in excess of 50 are discarded. I would like to see ALL search results being made available for viewing.

I have tried several other dictionaries (some of which I've reviewed here), and they all fail in comparison to the Sharp PWE500 (and PWE300) units.

Although not perfect, I was impressed with the performance of the PWE500, so I bought another one as a back up!

If Sharp are to produce another dictionary, I hope that it has increased number of definitions, and allows all search results to be viewed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Has Potential, 21 Dec. 2008
This was purchased on the understanding that it had 500,000 definitions, which exceeds the 350,000 definitions of the Sharp PWE300/PWE500 dictionaries which I have also.

Pros: Has a lot of information via its multiple dictionaries and thesaurus.

Cons: Keys have to be pressed fairly hard to register. LCD looks cheapish/gaudy. LCD and/or processor slow to update screen. Anagram solving feature need more definitions. Dictionary still needs more definitions.

I found this dictionary to be a bit awkward to use (because of the above cons), and to be no better (actually slightly worse) than the PWE300/PWE500 dictionaries for use in solving crosswords.

I returned the Collins dictionary for a refund as the cons far outweighd the pros.

Still the best overall dictionary, thesaurus and crossword solver units are the Sharp PWE300 and PWE500.

3.0 out of 5 stars Getting There! UPDATED!, 18 Dec. 2008
Purchased this because it has a crossword solving feature in addition to an encyclopedia, dictionary, and thesaurus.

I found the crossword solving feature to be limited. Many words suggested by the solver were NOT listed in the dictionary and/or in the thesaurus when one wanted to check or confirm the suggested words!? I found this 'flaw' to be quite an irritation.

It seemed that the processor and/or LCD was often slow in updating data.

EDIT: The contrast/display of the LCD was not entirely clear and made viewing text a little bit difficult.

Would have liked (much) more entries in the encyclopedia, dictionary, and thesaurus.

EDIT: Sold this unit. I'm using a Sharp PWE-500 instead which I've found to be better with more definitions, clearer LCD display, and faster response.
