3.0 out of 5 stars Nice but unreliable, 24 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I really liked the flash for as long as I used it (actually barely a couple of hours in total). It is powerful and easy to operate. The accessories you can buy (light formers, telescopic arm etc. - also sold as a 7 piece set which I managed to grab from the German amazon at a fantastic 70% off the usual price) are also very handy and well made. The price is also right at least at time of purchase. The included trigger cheaply made but did the job fine. Unfortunately the flash suddenly and too soon broke down and became non operational (it wouldn't fire at all and a repeating buzzer started that wouldn't stop - also all lights on the back panel stayed lit and none of the buttons seemed to work). Now that I am forced to send the unit back for a refund (lucky it's Christmas time and there is an extended return period) and since the flash seems to have serious reliability issues I am in a dilemma as to whether to order the same unit again or go for a Nikon speedlight. Hopefully this was an isolated incident and it is not representative of the product's quality but who knows... FYI the same system is sold under different names around the world such as 'cheetah flash' or 'neewer witstro' or 'godox witstro' etc. Cheers

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely hostile to the environment, 6 Nov. 2008
I won't even bother commenting on whether this is a good shaver or not, I just wanted to bring your attention to the fact that this device damages the environment in many ways. I strongly believe that 10 hours charging time for 35 minutes of operation is totally unacceptable! In times where we are trying to cut down on electricity consumption and carbon emissions as much as possible, that's a lot of wasted energy! Also bear in mind that since you can't use the device while it is connected to the mains, the battery will eventually die (a similar Philips shaver I had only lasted 4 years), and since it is not replaceable it will simply become waste (i.e. additional environmental burden). I don't really understand why Philips have chosen to keep it that way, the technology is there, their QC5070 hair clipper is excellent, it charges in less time and can be used with or without a cord. In the USA they also have the T980 trimmer which is similar to the QT4045 but charges in just 70 minutes and is suitable for both corded and cordless operation. The only reason I see for them not to provide such a product in the European market is to make you buy a new one when the battery in your QT4045 (or the one in similar products in their men's grooming line-up) dies and the device is no longer operable.

1.0 out of 5 stars A BAD SOAP-OPERA WITH BITS OF ACTION, 5 Feb. 2005
I am surprised how many people like 24. I actually found it very DISAPOINTING. The show supposedly describes events happening in real time which seems to be a major drawback on its own. There are actually NO events. 80% of each episode comprises of people holding phones talking to each other and of soap-opera like pointless lengthy dialogues suitable only for below average IQ people and not for senators and high ranked CIA (or CTU, whatever) officials. Add some very poor performances (Sutherland most of the time and for no particular reason is whispering instead of talking which is very annoying) plus the fact that every relationship among the characters even if it starts with a mutual dislike it ends up ideal and super-friendly and you get a very bad show with a highly predictable plot giving you boredom instead of excitement and often making you laugh with its stupidity and its pretentious gravity.
