5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, blummin' awful title!, 4 July 2014

Don't be put off by the terrible terrible title of this book or the occasional truly cringe-worthy reference inside to 'girl(s)' (which make me want to scream btw!). The rest of this book is excellent and one of the best guides for beginners I've read. Finally someone who is able to explain the relationship between aperture, ISO and shutter speed, and how and if these affect depth of field, and what metering is and why you'd want to think about it, and focal length (something my photographer-friend couldn't do!), as well as giving ideas on composition for different subject, all in clear, unambiguous language without dumbing it down. Really very good indeed!

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, 3 Oct 2013

This is awful. Pictures are repeated and it talks about looking good for men... In 2013? Really? Total and utter tosh!

5.0 out of 5 stars My hero is back!, 13 April 2013

Life doesn't get any easier for Jenny, but she keeps on standing up anyway! Another great book to make you wish a long journey would last longer, or that there were extra at night to keep on reading. Can't wait for book three and fear we've been spoiled by the quick release of book two after book one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jenny Parker; my new hero!, 2 April 2013

This is a great, fast paced page turner of a thriller, a perfect escapism holiday book. Jenny has courage and determination and she doesn't suffer fools - she's great. (I also love the way she stays in the moment!) It's hard to describe the plot without giving it away, but suffice to say that the 'idyllic' beginning doesn't last...

Interestingly I think the book gets better the more you read, so if for any reason you're not so comfortable with the first few chapters, don't be put off. Keep going and you will be rewarded with a great little number that will keep you awake long past lights out so you can find out what happens :-)
