4.0 out of 5 stars Great, 7 Jan 2011
After being out of the habit of designing to briefs, I decided to give this book a try. I'ts a good book giving you the brief, then showing possible design solutions at the end. Some of the earlier briefs are a bit tedious but they are what you make them. Some brilliant briefs at the end that give you more freedom. Good book overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars A constant reference, 7 Jan 2011

I always go to this book first when I'm lacking a bit of inspiration. I first read it at university and had such trouble finding a copy but it was worth the effort as It's full of so many rich beautiful designs.

Sizes May Vary: A Workbook for Graphic Design
Sizes May Vary: A Workbook for Graphic Design
by Mark Boyce
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Useful, 7 Jan 2011
This book has templates for everything you could imagine. Cd jewel case inserts, envelopes, all different paper sizes, business cards, gridded paper, reply slips, billboard sizes. So many templates. You can then easily draw your sketches on each of the template designs you want to use in the book. They are smaller versions but brilliant for quick ideas. The graph paper has become so useful as I can never seem to get hold of it normally. After sketching you can easily translate your designs on to MAC/PC at correct proportions with the Cd of templates

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book. Can't fault it, 7 Jan 2011
This review is from: Cake Pops (Hardcover-spiral)
I came across this book when looking for general cake decorating books. I had never seen Cake Pops before and became very intrigued. I bought it after looking at a few pages from the book. I am delighted. Lovely full colour pages and very easy to follow. Such gorgeous designs that I can't wait to start cooking up some of the recipes to start making some Cake Pops. I just can't decide which design to do! There's even a measurement guide at the back to convert to metric as its mainly in imperial. There's also the recipes to make the Candy Icing and list of companies who make each colour and flavours. Great Book. Buy it, you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny, 16 Sep 2008
This book is split up in to 7 main areas of illustrative design - Basic Naive design, Fashion, Pattern, Typography, Deconstructive, Vector and Pencillers & Ink. It is a very diverse range and guarantees an inspiration overload when you get that creative block. I also find the illustrator directory at the back of the book very useful for finding web pages of the illustrators you like to examine their work further. Great Book that I recommend to everyone. It's not just for illustrators. Great for Graphic Designers especially as well as advertisers, web designers and packaging designers. Hefty price but all very worth it. Its like the illustration 'bible'
