Rerecordings of the hits and other well known tracks but the album also contains some new or previously unavaiable material which are well worth the 69p to download individually.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the original singers, 12 Mar. 2013
This review is from: 57 fivepenny favourites (Audio CD)
While this CD is OK as far as it goes it's not by the 'main' line-up as it only features George and Ed and is more of a 'sing along' pop style than the normal folk and comedy mixture. It's professionally done if you like this sort of thing but certainly not a typical Fivepenny Piece release.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Solo Album, 3 Jan. 2012
This review is from: Time Australian Import (Audio CD)
A tremendous Australian produced CD with 12 fantastic tracks. Long awaited gems from a seriosly underated singer. Includes a new version of Concrete and Clay, 3 songs from a joint album made with Brian Parker in 1974 and 8 new songs.

At long last, a new Christmas album from Lynda and John of the Fivepenny Piece.

The Best Of The Fourmost

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Compilation Album, 28 Sept. 2009

Value for money compilation of the Fourmost's best recordings, plus a few rather unfunny attempts at comedy. Having said that when the hits dried up they made a good living out of comedy mixed with 'proper' singing in their the cabaret act so who am I to judge? Some of their serious recordings were first class and they did have a bigger hit in the UK with Baby I need your loving than the Four Tops managed.

After initial success in 1962, Chris didn't have any more hits for several years untl moving to A&M. This album contains several examples of his later work.

I don't know much about the Charlie Daniels band apart from this one track, which is absolutely fantastic.

Tremendous value for money, as long as you're prepared to discard the tracks that you don't like and keep the ones that you do.

Personally, I think his attempts at humour are pathetic (but lots of people disagreed at the time and he made a lot of money from it) but this double CD contains some absolute gems, brilliant examples of light hearted and easy to listen to 60's pop.

The Searchers before the 'rough edges' were smoothed.

Interesting but (as you would expect) not their best recordings.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Bobby Vee's best albums, 7 Feb. 2009

Disappointing. There are a couple of decent tracks but the rest are unsuccessful attempts at moving into the 'progressive' era.
