5.0 out of 5 stars Psychedelia for the Brit Pop Generation, 23 April 2014

Kula Shaker were oft derided in the trendy music press for exploring so called naff eastern mysticism. I can't recall them slating Oasis for experimenting with hippy terminology on Who Feels Love from the following year. This is wonderful music full of meditation on the meaning of life and modern day existentialism. There is a strong Hare Krishna theme throughout with some exotic sounding eastern instrumentation mixed with choppy guitars, swirling hammond organ and wonderful vocals from Crispin Mills. KS were mining the same deep mysticism as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple et al from the past along with their late 90's peers The Charlatans and Ocean Colour Scene. A highly underrated album with some wonderful photos of an astronaut sat on a log reading a paper in an autumnal wood on the sleeve notes. Don't hesitate if you love The Beatles Tomorrow Never Knows and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

What a load of rubbish. Typical Hollywood special effects movie lacking substance. Most people are very easily pleased judging by the lack of balance of reviews.

OMG this is like so morbid and depressing. Strange title aswell but looking into the gutter is how I felt after listening to it. Try Cole's Corner or Lady's Bridge for an introduction to this artist.

I find myself agreeing with the other 1 star reviewer. I had very high hopes for this film after seeing the trailer. How wrong could I be? This film is one of those that we are led to believe is left field. In fact it is like one of those mainstream cartoons like The Simpsons. The characters have annoying American accents so I can only guess that the producer is aiming it at the American/Western audience. I didn't learn anything about Iran and was not entertained. I was disappointed to say the least and would not recommend anyone wasting an hour and a half of their life watching it.

This film is terrible. I lost interest after the first couple of scenes. I felt no empathy with the characters and found the whole experience depressing.

Come on people why can't you see that Delays are the greatest UK band of the noughties. This album is their best yet revealing hidden depths on repeated listens. A recurring theme of this album appears to be the New Forest near to where these guys hail from. An example is the lyrics of the opening two tracks Find A Home (New Forest Shaker) "Find a home amongst the trees, bend your branches over me" and The Lost Estate "For three days I haunted a line through a forest". There is a comment on the bankers in Shanghaied "Money in the bank isn't worth what it was since the bullion sank in a pool of sharks". Other highlights are the beautiful Rhapsody, the moving May '45, the synth led Hold Fire, first single Unsung, Aarons' In Brilliant Sunshine and the ode to just letting time pass together Moment Gone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shoegazing heaven, 24 Aug 2010
Slowdive were one of the leading protagonists of the Shoegazing scene of the early 1990s. Hailing from Reading their major influences were My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth as well as Pink Floyd and the Beatles producer Phil Spectors wall of sound. The vocals are shared between Rachael Goswell and Neil Halstead and are beautiful as is the music. I'd recommend listening on headphones at night with a glass of wine. If you like this another album I'd recommend is Rides first album NowhereNowhere: Remastered.
