Bought this album on the back of hearing the magnificent "drowning" earlier this year on 1xtra. Thing is, that is still the best track on the album for me although several come close. Also a lot of tracks are great but would probably sound their best when laced into a D&B mix rather than being standalone tracks. Quite a varied mix of sounds, a bit like carrying on where the Prodigy left off. Certainly wakes you up on the commute to work!

4.0 out of 5 stars Catchy & varied, 9 Nov 2013

It's not deep or particularly clever, verging on cheesy, predictable euro-dance music but it's varied enough in not to be a monotonous thump and has got some great catchy tunes to it that will appeal to pretty much everyone. Good mix of instruments and guest singers to stop it all sounding the same, having said that not really an album you will really get "lost" in. Great to listen to in the car. If you're bit of a music snob look at it as a "guilty pleasure" but still worth listening to.

She might be less commercially successful now and the tabloids have largely lost interest but this doesn't stop Charlotte Church still being one of the best living singers around. Without wanting to be in any way disrespectful to the lovely lady she has turned into, it's probably fair to say she has been "round the block" a bit and this means there is added insight and depth to her songs.

Love the new sound, a little bit reminiscent of Sinead O'Connor back in the day (that to me is a good thing). The singing is great, not overworked or strained but with feeling and technically excellent of course. Behind all that there is a great gang of talented musicians creating music that sounds like it's being made for the love of it, not trying to meet a target audience, record label's expectations or fitting in with any current fads.(more R&B anyone?) A lovely oasis of calm on my phone that is otherwise rammed with D&B remixes.

My only criticism is that it's a bit short, songs like "the rise" are great but just as you're getting into it it's all over, some musical interludes would be ok to show of the band a bit more and think/hope there will be more songs- soon please.
