4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 26 Jan. 2014

This gives a excellent footing in understanding how the movement came about and has evolved.

Although I can see why he has not altered the historical aspects it does require some more recent updating as the situation has changed over the last few years and continues to do so. So the last 2 chapters do seem a little light. I would rather have it all in the one book than have to purchase his more recent book (but then I am a tight middle aged man!).

Excellent nonetheless.

From parachuting on to your girlfriend's lawn (modern mock tudor house) to making loud chicken noises when you are behind enemy lines supposed to be covert, avoiding detection whilst knowing the enemy are all around, this is without doubt the worst film I have seen for some time (possibly ever).....

Singing at the beginning in a modern way not akin to the 1940's at all. Intelligence that the Germans locally were "anti-parachutist specialists", WTF? they point up and shoot? In France, running across a field with all your kit bouncing and clanking like a train. Shouting at others to shut up or they will give their position away. Jumping on top of a grenade (and waiting an eternity for it to go off). Inexplicably having a leg splinted (using better kit than they had then) and being pushed around in a wheelbarrow by the enemy. Patrolling down the middle of a road on your own in broad daylight. Bunched up on patrol and again in hiding in the hedgerows. Germans singing in a sangar whilst knowing the were enemy around. The usual lack of magazine changes and reloads. Should I stop now?

With military service experience I can genuinely say there was nothing realistic in it. It started off amusing but that quickly wore off and it went quickly downhill.

Truly awful.
