Chichewa 101 - Learn Chichewa in 101 Bite-sized Lessons
Chichewa 101 - Learn Chichewa in 101 Bite-sized Lessons
Price: £3.73

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent but limited, 2 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's decent, but it is basically just like an extended glossary of Chichewa terms. I think you would need the CD along with it to benefit as then you would understand the pronunciation. To properly learn some of the language I think it would be good for it to show scenarios rather than just a list of vocab.

The introduction which explains the background to the language is good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value for money but the dashboard mount doesn't work, 19 May 2013

I couldn't get the dashboard sticky to work. I have used the suction cup to the windscreen instead and been very pleased with it. It fits the Samsung Galaxy fine using the extension clips provided. Fully adjustable and appears to be very sturdy so far.

Very useful - will jog memory of skills rusty from basic training and also gives new tips (eg Bergan packing) that you may not be aware of.

4.0 out of 5 stars A really pleasant film, 9 Jan. 2010

Classic Shane Meadows. A touching portrayal of ordinary people's lives which is in the same vein as other Meadows films such as Twentyfourseven or A Room For Romeo Brass. Its short, but to the point, and it was just a really enjoyable, pleasant film!

The Global Politics of Unequal Development
The Global Politics of Unequal Development
by Anthony Payne

Price: £25.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for politics students studying Development., 9 Aug. 2008
It probably won't be much use to Economists but for other social scientists this is an indispensable advanced level textbook.

Payne takes a critical view of the politics of development and attempts to explain the current global order with reference to the developing world. The book is well balanced and as subjective as it is possible to be in a subject like this. The chapters on theory are superb, and will be useful to any 2nd and 3rd year undergrads studying IPE. He also makes a valiant attempt to define development.

The writing is usually easy and flows well, unlike a lot of other textbooks. There are also some usual case studies, and the references are excellent.

Creative ZEN Leather Case

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent but could be better, 9 Aug. 2008
It really misses a cable tidy and does not have a screen protector. That said, the leather is of fairly good quality, and the case is well made. It is therefore probably a good buy, but not for £15 in my opinion.

Summer Jobs Worldwide 2008 (Summer Jobs Abroad)
Summer Jobs Worldwide 2008 (Summer Jobs Abroad)
by David Woodworth & Victoria Pybus
Edition: Paperback
Price: £12.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, 1 July 2008
There must have been a tremendous amount of research put into this book and it really shows. It does have a UK bias, but most of the UK jobs were in industries I'd never heard of or thought of applying to, so I didn't mind. There are also a lot of European opportunities listed. Well worth getting the 2009 edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sick Irvine Welsh character..., 1 July 2008
This review is from: Filth (Paperback)
Both Bruce Robertson and the tapeworm are sick, classic Irvine Welsh characters. Like a lot of Welsh characters, Robertson shows signs of good as well as evil, and you're never quite sure whether he's at heart a good guy just misdirected - that's what makes the book interesting. There's some really disgusting, hilarious moments in the book that only Welsh could conjure up. A lot of other reviews suggest that the book might be too long, without direction and meandering through the middle part. I'll leave that up to the reader to decide. But I really would recommend finishing the book. The last half a dozen chapters really hit you hard and they'll leave you thinking about it for a few days.

The Scottish Nation: 1700-2007
The Scottish Nation: 1700-2007
by T M Devine
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding revisionist history, 30 Jun. 2008
Devine's book is a really interesting social history of Scotland. For anyone like myself born post-1970, Devine's account of poverty and deprivation in overcrowded post-ww1 schemes makes you stop to think how far we've come and still need to go. The description of how Scotland came to be in the Union is fascinating and throughout, Devine is free of bias on either the Unionist or Nationalist side. Devine always shows a mastery of the evidence and delivers a flowing, readable prose. In conclusion, a thoroughly enjoyable introduction to modern Scottish history.

Statistics for Economics, Accounting and Business Studies
Statistics for Economics, Accounting and Business Studies

3.0 out of 5 stars Errors in Chapter 5..., 1 Jun. 2007
Be careful, as Barrow has made some errors in some of the formulae in Chapter 5, so check with other sources / course leaders. This left me very confused as to why I was getting every exercise wrong.

There are a few other minor errors but for the most part the book is easy to follow, a good choice for statistics modules and worth the money.
