Oral-B Stages Power Kids Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush Featuring Disney Mickey Mouse for Kids
Oral-B Stages Power Kids Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush Featuring Disney Mickey Mouse for Kids
Price: £22.50

4.0 out of 5 stars Yes, this does the job, 18 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a perfectly decent electric toothbrush. Oral B have paid Disney the licensing fee and it's got Mickey Mouse on it. It brushes teeth well and, cleverly, has a musical wobble to let you know when a minute has passed and another at two minutes. It's good. I'm not so sure about the musical claims of the toothbrush - my kids weren't at all bothered by that, but it's a good way to look after their teeth

Mindfulness Pocketbook: Little Exercises for a Calmer Life
Mindfulness Pocketbook: Little Exercises for a Calmer Life
by Gill Hasson
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.79

4.0 out of 5 stars Small, short and practical, 10 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is called a mindfulness pocket book with little exercises for a quieter life. And it is. It's small, short and full of very practical little exercises to help improve mindfulness, reduce stress and cope with the strains, pressures and irritations of modern life. if you're into mindfulness, you'll like it, if you're not, you won't. I did

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant - but one thing to look out for, 5 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This case is excellent. it fits the Paperwhite very snugly - both the new version and the old one (my wife has a brand new one, I have one of the originals). It looks much more expensive than it is. It protects the device well and makes it feel more like a book. The magnetic cover means that the device automatically unlocks when you open the screen. Just beware of this if, like me, you have a small son who thinks it's very funny and does it repeatedly (and then changes the font size and moves the book on about 50 pages)

Other than that, this cover is great. Premium looking product for budget price

Barbieri 300006 Chain Cleaner - Transparent
Barbieri 300006 Chain Cleaner - Transparent
Price: £8.11

5.0 out of 5 stars Cannot beat it for the price - it works, 5 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This product feels quite cheap and flimsy. But don't be fooled - it's still going strong after a few months usage and is cheap. Most importantly, it works. You lift the top off, half fill it with degreaser, run the chain through it, put the top back on and hold it in place with the bottom lever. Turn the pedals and be appalled at all the muck that comes off your chain. It's quite messy, so don't do this indoors.

But it works very effectively, at a price that is very reasonable indeed.

No instructions are provided (so I still have absolutely no idea what the arm at the end is for) but it's pretty self explanatory. Why spend three times as much? (unless you really want to know what the arm at the end is for?)

Igenix DF0035 Digital Tower Fan with Remote Control 30 Inches 45 W - White
Igenix DF0035 Digital Tower Fan with Remote Control 30 Inches 45 W - White
Price: £47.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good., 5 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This fan, by sheer chance, turned up on one of the hottest days of the year. And it is very welcome.

So, first things first. It comes in three pieces - two halves of a base which need to be screwed to the body of the fan. Takes two minutes at most. The remote control comes without batteries, although why anyone would actually need a remote control is beyond me. Athough the top folds open to reveal a handy slot to keep the remote control in, to stop you losing it). (Of course, if you need to walk over to the fan to get the remote control, you could just, you know, turn it on)

It has three modes: On, Natural Breeze (it wafts in and out) and Sleep (no idea - seems to be the same as the On). You can set it to oscillate or not, there are three speed settings and it has a handy timer on it. I like that feature a lot.

It's also very child friendly. There is a rotating fan inside the tower, but smal fingers cannot get inside (my youngest is 4, and he can't get his fingers inside). So very safe too.

It's quite tall - I know they say how tall it is, but it still came as a bit of a surprise. It doesn't look premium, and feels like it may break sooner rather than later. I could be being very unfair though - I've only had it a couple of days and Igenix offer a 2 year guarantee. It's light, very portable and blows a decent amount of air around. You can feel the difference it makes. It's not silent by any stretch, but nor is it noisy.

Overall, then, first impressions are very favourable. I'd not pay the full RRP for it (80 is a lot) , but for the price Amazon are asking, it sounds very fair.

pürminerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation, Light 8 g
pürminerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation, Light 8 g
Price: £24.00

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good for an all in one powder, 2 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
My wife has tried this so, so the review comes from her..

She started off expecting this to be disappointing as it claims to be in 4 in 1. But she was pleasantly surprised - the coverage is excellent. It evened her skin tone, without looking heavy. It doesn't feel dry on your skin as some powders can.

The box mentions applying the product 'with the chisel brush' - none was included in the box (not sure if something was meant to be).

This is a light in colour product - so might not work as well for you in the summer.

Overall, then, this is a high quality product, meriting its price.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good little compact fryer, 2 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is smaller than you expect. it's really a one-portion fryer. Could do one bit of fish at a time, or one portion of chips. If you eat less than me, perhaps you could squeeze in enough chips for two people. It takes up very little room, and looks good. But the detachable handle is a pain. You need to squeeze it to attach to the wire basket. It's not that hard, but it's not that great either.

Overall, then this does exactly what it says it does. It's a small fryer, and ideal for 1 or 2 people. But 2 people who don't eat loads. Cleaning is easy, but the handle is a bit of a faddle.

LEGO Friends 41094: Heartlake Lighthouse
LEGO Friends 41094: Heartlake Lighthouse
Offered by Toybroker-UK
Price: £31.45

4.0 out of 5 stars Another quality lego product, 25 Jun. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a big kit - nearly 500 bits of lego to build a lighthouse, keepers cottage and pier. Except, being lego friends, it's an ice cream parlour rather than a keepers cottage. It's a big kit and was satisfying for my daughter to build and play with. She's quite experienced at Lego and, even though she's 7, was able to build it without any difficulties. They always design things well.

The reason I am giving this 4 stars rather than 5 is a simple one - I dislike the Lego Friends brand for being so relentlessly little girly. I love Lego and love the fact it is so good at helping children's imagination and helping them to build things. The products are always well made and the instructions are simply brilliant. I just wish it wasn't all so sexist. I am railing against the tide here - that is the way ot childrens toys, I know. But it's my review so one star off until they are giving girls a much broader range of aspirations with these toys.

The product is great though. The price is high - £50 RRP!! The Amazon price is more realistic.

LEGO Friends 41086: Vet Ambulance
LEGO Friends 41086: Vet Ambulance

3.0 out of 5 stars Typical Lego quality. But gender stereotyping and, oh my eyes, the price (for what it is), 9 Jun. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
My daughter is 7. She likes Lego. Which is great. She also likes Lego Friends. Which isn't. I have a problem with Lego Friends - the horrible gender stereotyping and Californian damn girliness of it all. but I am a middle aged man, and not a 7 year old girl. So set that to one side. And at least this one is sort of being a vet.

With typical Legoness - the instructions are very clear and building the thing is satisfying.

Is it worth a tenner? No. It's worth about a fiver. But that's Lego prices (and remember I am a middle aged man and therefore out of touch with the world). And this is fairly substantial once built, so better value than some of the other lego things.

I just wish the brand wasn't so girlygirlygirl. When did Lego get so gender specific?

Yes, they have taken over the world, and yes, it's me who's out of the loop. I realise how massively successful Lego and lego friends are. I just miss the days when children could just build...

Sony FDR-X1000V 4K Action Camera
Sony FDR-X1000V 4K Action Camera
Offered by myGadgetsandGames LTD
Price: £277.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Very very nice. But not perfect, 8 Jun. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I am new to the world of action cameras. I have seen GoPros, of course, but hadn't seen anything else.

So, when this arrived, what did I think?

Well, the picture quality is amazing. I mean, seriously, it's amazing. The whole camera is the size of a cigarette packet, it weighs next to nothing, but it has a Zeiss lens and produces stunning images. There is quite a pronounced fisheye effect, but that might be par for the course with these things.

Upsides:
It's waterproof. Well, the case it comes with is waterproof. That's great fun.
There is no onboard screen but, and I loved this, you can use your iPhone or Android smartphone as screen and remote control. That's really clever. Really really clever. Loved that. (it's just a free app to download) And if you want to, you can hook up four or five of these and control them all via your phone.
Picture quality is brilliant
It's very small and weighs nothing.

Downsides:

Battery life's not great, but it's tiny, what do you expect?
Battery charging is poor. The camera comes without any kind of adapter, just a USB lead. The advertised charge time is 6hours plugged into a computer, 3 hours plugged into the (not included) power lead. That is poor (and hence the star off). If you're off on holiday, you really need to get a spare battery or two and the charging lead
The menus are all a bit fiddly. There's no OFF button. The screen on the side looks a bit, well, rubbish.

It comes without a memory card - so be warned - you might as well order one at the same time.

It comes with a couple of mounts, but not the mount you need to fix it to a bike (I am a cyclist, so that's the one I'd want).

SO, overall, this is a very very nice product indeed. But not a perfect one.
