4.0 out of 5 stars Back to the sun with the lovely Teenage Fanclub, 20 Oct. 2000
This review is from: Howdy! (Audio CD)
Oh, how we all love Teenage Fanclub. Well, we did. After "Songs From Northern Britain" they were threatened with obscurity. However, this fine collection of melodic pop should see them back in the limelight. The lovely new single "I Need Direction" sets the tone, all coosome guitars and hummable choruses. Their Beach Boys/Byrds/Beatles sound is refined yet further, to the point where you find yourself snuggling up with the music. Very fine music too. This album deserves to join the ranks of classic, along with "Bandwagonesque" and "Grand Prix." Right. Here's what to do. Click on "Add to shopping basket." Buy CD. It's that simple. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars More is better., 20 Oct. 2000
Ah...Mr. David Bowie is back. 3 CD's no less. First of all, if you are a Bowie newbie, head to disc 2, and marvel at crucnching versions of "Ziggy Stardust" and "Queen Bitch" and an indistinguishable "Hang onto Yourself." Once you've primed yourself with that, head to disc 3, which is an extra concert recorded at BBC Radio Theatre in June, just after his Glastonbury triumph. This contains other straightahead glam things like the awesome "Cracked Actor" and the literally great "The Man Who Sold The World" as well as a ridiculous, but fun, ballad-esque version of "Let's Dance" which we all know off by heart. Maybe he realised. Also look for "I'm Afraid of American's" and "Ashes to Ashes" If you know your Bowie already, just marvel in the glory of him over 30 years. Lush.
