Gigaset c300H additional handset, 4 Mar 2013
We needed a fourth handset to go with a C300A Trio set we got. We've had these phones 2 months now, working well. Speech is clear, intercom system easy, ringer tones good. They were a bit pricey, but seem much better than our previous brand (P'sonic). Recommended.

Canon PIXMA iP4600 printer - good for moderate home use., 4 Dec 2012
Nice little printer, prints very well to the edge of the paper, and does duplex printing without fuss (one major reason for this purchase). Seems to drink ink sometimes, and can take 5 minutes to actually START printing if it is some while since you last used it, as it initialises itself all over again (it seems). 4 years on and its still doing all it should. When nozzles were blocked and wouldn't clean using Canon's utilities, I found Printer Hospital's solvent cleaning kit got it all back into action again without trouble or much cost. VERDICT - - Good printer for careful home use - but plastic case seems more flimsy than my tough old HP Deskjet 500 which felt much more robust.

Flight Sim X Gold with Acceleration pack - what fun!, 4 Dec 2012
I've had 2 (?3, ?4) previous versions of MS FS, but when I was given this as a Christmas present by my daughter some years ago it knocked the earlier ones into a cocked hat! I've had hours of enjoyment out of this - love the technical and maths side of it (but you don't NEED to locate your own VOR stations of course), and the "glass cockpits" are fascinating. The fun of flying a 747 into major European Airports under GPS and Air Traffic Control's audio instructions is just as much as put-put-ing around the Peruvian jungle in a Flying boat looking for treasure landing on lakes and rivers as well as airstrips. No shoot-em-up distractions, just the fun of learning a liitle of what it must be like to fly a modern plane. Good fast drive and 2GB RAM on XPP, 2.4GHz PC, is all you need - though those with super machines must be enjoying an even better experience I guess! Great!

Economics (VSI), 4 Dec 2012
Really helpful introduction for an economic ignoramus - I thought the storyline approach was a good way in to an intricate subject. Now I understand the news that bit better! Recommended.

Norton Internet Security 2013, 4 Dec 2012
Once again, after many years of faultless protection by Norton, I got NIS 2013. My only complaints are: (a) that if you upgrade your NIS before your previous NIS expiry date, you lose the remaining days still valid on the old subscription (or did, I haven't tested this in recent years!), and (b) the new installation seems to completely ignore recent live updates you did to the old version. I'm not an expert here, so don't know if there is some deep reason for this behaviour, but they don't explain it in real time .. it looks as if the new version just ignores the old product updates and wants to download anything since its own release date. My broadband is unlimited at the weekend, so that's when I do large downloads. - - - OTHERWISE .. Excellent, fast, reliable, .. I'm very satisfied.

Greek Philosophy (Simple Guides), 4 Dec 2012
Recommended to me by a friend, this was a good and informative read over the past 6 weeks. It gave the historical sequence and enabled me to get a bit more grip again on an old subject area, but as well as historical development I would have liked some more discussion of ideas - perhaps I am asking too much in a simple guide! Overall - a helpful brief introduction, so recommended .. but 4 out of 5 stars. (I've now bought Simple Guide to Chinese Philosophy - could be a rather different read!)

Ring RAC600 digital compressor - v. good, 25 Oct 2012
I bought one of these 9 months ago, and have been so impressed that I've now bought another to give to our daughter. Pity the price has gone up in the meanwhile, from £19 to almost £25 which is a bit pricey. Instructions are clear (and multi lingual ... I've kept just the English pages and laminated them, more usable in the rain which we get plenty of in Devon!) Simple to operate, comes with a positive screw connector to the tyre valve, and useful cloth storage case - PLUS it remembers its last settings for the next time you need it.

Flash Superstore flip case for Nokia C3 - avoid!, 5 Jan 2012
Bought this for my new Nokia C3 because I liked the flip case style, but within days the corners of the flimsy plastic frame that actually holds the phone were cracking and breaking off. (Now have bought a (more expensive) slip case instead which is v good). So, unless the phone is just going to sit on your desk/ kitchen shelf all day: Flash Superstore case NOT RECOMMENDED.
