4.0 out of 5 stars gripping, 7 Feb 2013
This truly is a wonderful series! I loved 24 & The Wire and I think if you love them, you will also love Prison Break. The characters are well thought out and you really feel like you know and care for them, even the horrid ones! This is testament to the brilliant writing and acting.

I personally found the fourth season disappointing compared to the previous 3, like it had run out of ideas. It does finish things off thpugh and doesn't take away from the brilliance of the previous seasons (particularly 1 & 2).

I think this is definitely worth the purchase, just make sure you have some time set aside as once you start watching it is very difficult to stop!

An Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington

Edition: Paperback
Price: 6.29

4.0 out of 5 stars Good as stand alone book., 11 Mar 2012
This book is good for those who have seen the TV series and as a stand alone book. I personally have seen the series and read the book after and I liked the few added details. The reason this didn't get five stars is I would have loved it to be longer, but sometimes Karl is a man of few words!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good one for the ladies, 2 Mar 2012
This is the first book of erotic stories I have bought and I personally really enjoyed most of the stories, or "confessions" although some seem slightly unrealistic, but I guess a lot of people like to exaggerate their experiences! I found the stories saucy yet not sleazy which I think is key to a good erotic story. They are of good length and each can be read in 5-10 minutes.

There is a range of stories and I believe something for everyone, no two are similar which in a book of this size (over 100 stories) I think is good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Special, 2 Mar 2012
To be honest the main reason I bough this was as I fancied seeing some of the old clips of Eastenders, I did enjoy watching back some of the old scenes with the Slater family but the storyline this DVD is based on is a little dull! I would rather Eastenders just brought out some classic episode DVDs or best bits.

Ricky Gervais Guide to: Volume 1 to 5: The Complete First Series
Ricky Gervais Guide to: Volume 1 to 5: The Complete First Series

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for all ..., 2 Mar 2012
I personally love all the work by Ricky, Stephen and Karl and believe anyone who has not been introduced to them should be and fast!! I think to truly appreciate their banter and friendships in An Idiot Abroad you should listen to the audiobooks and podcasts. It is just stripped back and incredibly funny, they are also allowed to get away with saying a lot more than they can on TV!

Essentially there is a different topic each episode which is relatively serious and Ricky and Steve try to pick Karl's brains on it with simply hilarious consequences.

I can't fault it to be honest!

It Looks Like a C**k
It Looks Like a C**k
by Ben Dunn
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Childish fun, 2 Mar 2012
This review is from: It Looks Like a C**k (Hardcover)
Lets face it, you are not buying this book if you are looking for an gritty book, the title is pretty self explanatory! I found it amusing and liked this little notes next to the pictures. I find it hard to believe the inner child in anyone wouldn't smirk at some of the pictures! The reason I have not given it five stars is because I think it is a little over priced for something you will probably look through once and then it will be made reduntant on the bottom shelf of the book case.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tries too hard, 2 Mar 2012
I found this film had the basis of a good story and could potentially be a good film. However, it seemed to try too hard to be "gritty" and "edgy". I don't think it managed to pull either off very well. The storyline was a little dull compared to how it could have been and the performances were pretty wooden by all involved. Although Sasha Grey did come across as just a slightly bad actress instead of a porn start trying to act. Personally, I wouldn't bother!

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but nothing special, 5 Jan 2012
I am a big fan of Merchant's TV work aswell as Gervais' stand up so thought I would give this a go. I found ti funny and had a good laugh but it was more of a "chuckle" stand up than a "laugh out loud" stand up. It is quite slow paced but I don't mind that in a comedy show. The last part of the show is incredibly funny though, where a play is acted out with audience members!

It is worth a buy if at a reasonable price. Just go into it without expectations to avoid any disapointments. The extras on the DVD are quite good also with an interview with Stephen Merchant about why he decided to go back to stand up, which I found interesting - I didn't realise he used to do it!

Overall I think it is a good watch, I definately didnt feel as if I had wasted an hour of my life but it is not amazing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just as good as the first, 30 Dec 2011
This review is from: Him & Her - Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
The only reason I give this 4 stars and not 5 is because I didnt think it was better than the first, however it was equally as good. The first couple of episodes seemed a bit stretched and I worried how the series would pan out, yet they pulled it out the bag again! I think one of the great things about this comedy is the fact it is based in one small flat for the most part (yet never outside the block of flats) so it is totally stripped back. I don't think there are many other programmes that could be as funny as this with such a limited set. I hope they don't try and get them out the flat though, that is what makes this original!

5.0 out of 5 stars Understated, 30 Dec 2011
This review is from: Him & Her [DVD] (DVD)
When explaining the simplicity of this programme to others, the originality and humour can be lost so I am not even going to try, however what I will say is it is by far one of the best British comedies for a long time. The acting is fantastic and if you hadn't seen them play different parts you would think they were just like this in real life.

It is not a "joke a minute" comedy, it is probably funniest as you imagine yourself in similar situations. Their relationship is very similar to most I know also!

A great comedy, really worth a buy, can't recommend it enough!
