Just as expected, great lamp. Overly expensive yes. But it's a design classic and very nice. Happy with lamp, packaging and delivery.

5.0 out of 5 stars No complaints - perfect!, 6 Jan 2010
Great little omelette pan or handy small frying pan. Solid cast iron, holds heat really well. Great for omelettes or if you just want to fry a small amount of something. I often use it if I am pan frying say a steak for one.

Expect this will last me a lifetime!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, 27 Nov 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an interesting book. It has a number of chapters each of which covers a project or idea and then goes into some detail on how to write it. It is not a code heavy book and it's not a book about teaching advanced aspects of Cocoa Touch. Overall it's a good book but unless your specific needs are covered by one (or more) of the chapters it probably won't set your world alight.

The Complete Guide to Choosing a Cruising Sailboat
The Complete Guide to Choosing a Cruising Sailboat
by Roger Marshall
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent details of what makes yachts work, 1 Oct 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great book. I'm reasonably new to sailing but very interested. I see so many boats around and the geeky side of me wants to know why they are like that, what the impact of the different styles and configurations are, etc. For this, this book is perfect. It goes into great details of boat design and impact of that design on how the boat sails. The focus is on assisting you in your choice of boat based on how you intend to use it. It's not just about "Cruising" boats, it covers all boat design.

The downsides? It's an American author to examples and dimensions are aimed at a US market but this is easy enough to cope with. The pictures used are ok but at times could be better - it has the feel of an old text book at time. More colour images and better quality graphics would make it feel fresher. This doesn't take away from the content though, so I'd highly recommend this if you want to understand what makes yachts work, which in my view will help your sailing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Howlin!, 10 Sep 2009
I can't believe we finally have this T-shirt available in the UK! And why are they even discounting it - it's so good they should sell it at full price!!

Like many others, I was sceptical about this - just some more jokers writing silly Amazon reviews. But when I saw a friend in his that he bought from the US, I was just panting for one. Now I have my own I can't stop howlin', it really is the dogs!

Mac OS X Snow Leopard (Mac)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great upgrade, 10 Sep 2009
Upgraded 3 machines now with the family pack. Everyone was very easy and went smoothly. Gained a lot of disk space back after the upgrade which was a nice bonus. Snow Leopard is not a major upgrade in terms of features, there are few things you *need* in there, but given the very cheap price it is well worth it. My machine certainly feels a bit faster after installing and there are quite a lot of nice touches that have been added that were not there before - I do like the dock integration of expose, the improvements to stacks is great and new quicktime player is much improved. It just feels like someone has taken the extra time to make something very good (Leopard) into something even more polished and better. Upgrade!

59 Seconds: Think a little, change a lot
59 Seconds: Think a little, change a lot
by Richard Wiseman

3.0 out of 5 stars Good and awful, 13 Aug 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
59 seconds is both very good, and awful. Wiseman sets out to explore techniques that can change your life yet are proven in a scientific sense. It's hard to say if he does this, certainly references are given to back up his claims so we have to give him the benefit of doubt here as this is a book aimed at the general reader and not a science paper. The techniques proposed are interesting and certainly can have an effect on your life - as with any of these things, how much effect they have is how much effort you are willing to put into them.

The premise that this book is different from other self help books in the sense of being empirically proven to work can be a bit misleading. For instance, rubbishing "think happy" self help books is too widespread condemnations without further details. Certainly an approach such as "think happy and you'll be happy" is not sufficient to make a change, and as Wiseman points out, can in fact lead to the opposite. Yet approaches such as CBT are based around changing thinking to result in life change and certainly cannot be discounted.

So overall this ends up being just another self help book - interesting, full of options for you to try and likely to make a change to your life if you stress the "self" of self help!

How Far Will You Go?: Questions to Test Your Limits
How Far Will You Go?: Questions to Test Your Limits
by Evelyn McFarlane
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £8.54

5.0 out of 5 stars Good fun, 16 May 2009
This is a fun little book. It's interesting to read on your own, ponder some of the questions it poses and your view on them. When it comes into it's own is when you play it with other people - maybe a party, or someone close or you are getting to know. Yes, such a book isn't really needed to facilitate conversation and getting to know someone, but it is fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great handy sander, 2 May 2009

Bought this for sanding down some teak garden furniture. Saved a lot of time, very easy to use and did the job really well and quickly. Easy to get into small areas yet coped with sanding larger areas well. Good price, cheaper and better quality than the local big chain DIY stores.
