4.0 out of 5 stars Very useful depending on what you're looking for., 9 Nov. 2001
I am an A-level English Literature student and decided to read this book for the knowledge regarding the war. Although it provides you with many facts and opinions from various sources, for me it was a very long read. The information was not easily digested and it took several repetitions before I could grasp some isuues of the book, perhaps because of the style of writing. In areas it appears factual and in others takes on the form of a story. Although this is good because it enforces the idea that this information if factual it does make it a very long read - for me anyhow!
If you are reading this book for pleasure then it will provide you with knowledge about WW1 and again it is brilliant for this purpose. However, I don't find it a relaxing read or something you could take away on holiday with you!
