This review is from: Heart of Nowhere (Audio CD)
This being their fourth album, NATW started life pushing the popular boundaries of folk and summertime pop with Peaceful... before getting depressingly arty via First Days of Spring and then courting student mainstream pop with Last Night on Earth.
This latest offering follows on in the same vein as Last night... indeed, some of these songs could of come from the same sessions. Unfortunately, that's where the similiarity ends. Whereas Last Night sounded fresh - at least in Noah terms - this platter comes across as laboured and short on ideas with latest single, There Will Come A Time being the only stand out track, a poor return for a band who up till now have had the catchy refrain market all but sewn up. The opening number is little more than pretencious filler leaning to the cinematic influences of First Days.. What follows is poor and forgettable when compared alongside the earlier NATW back catalogue. The only saving grace of this album is that it is mercifully short, which as previous reviewers have pointed out is hardly good value, in this case, neither in monetary or audio terms.
