5.0 out of 5 stars on cars, 2 Aug 2011
This review is from: Clarkson on Cars (Paperback)
this book is not just about cars. it also covers his experiences living in london e.g when he bought a bike to go the pub and about car stereo thieves.

this is one of best collective writings of his on par with 'born to be riled'. it really is, laugh a minute stuff.

the book is split into two parts, the first part are the columns that first appeared in 'performance car' the second part first appeared in the sunday times.

this is a 'must' read for any clarkson fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars motorworld, 2 Aug 2011
This review is from: Motorworld (Paperback)
possibly the shortest clarkson book, but don't let it put you off. this was written concurrent with his motorworld programme which was aired in 1995 (they're on youtube) and it was very good. he visited 13 countries across the world and compared driving styles and cultures. it is insightful and as usual, written very well. importantly, it is 'laugh out loud' funny as well. the chapter about india is very good.

there is also a few extra chapters at the back under the heading 'extreme machines' e.g from when he flew the F-15

this is well worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars how hard can it be, 2 Aug 2011
very good read. as good as some of the earlier 'world according to....' editions. each chapter first appeared in the sunday times. the events mentioned were not too long ago current affairs , as this is a more recent book. well worth reading, it took me only an afternoon to read it because i couldn't put it down for very long.

the book is 'laugh out loud' funny but, it does seem to be more serious than earlier books. perhaps he's growing up?

STV Bug Zappa
STV Bug Zappa
Price: £8.75

4.0 out of 5 stars stv fly swatter, 2 Aug 2011
This review is from: STV Bug Zappa (Garden & Outdoors)
very good. it has killed everything if tried it on spiders, flies, hornets, mosquitoes and a bee(once). haven't tried it on a wasp. sometimes it requires a second shock to finish off an insect. sometimes it sparks when something comes into contact with the grid and sometimes the insect will 'smoke' and it stinks.

it is one of the more expensive swatters but it is well made, it has a safety switch which takes a while to get used to, it has more than enough power, the batteries in mine so far have lasted 5 weeks (2xAA) and still the shock it gives is as when i first used it and it also comes with a case and a brush for cleaning the grid (this is needed as sometimes an insect will get caught between the grid and the horizontal protective wires and if it's spiders you want rid of then you'll have to brush the web off).

fruit flies go with a loud crack.

Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars clarkson, 2 Aug 2011
very good read. better than some of his more recent work. as a rule with clarkson's books the older it is the better it is. that's not to say the newer books are bad just less likely to make you 'laugh out loud' as the earlier books were written when he lived in london and when he first moved to the country, essentially when he was building his career and just as top gear emerged in it's current format.

i would say it's as good as 'Born to be riled'.

4.0 out of 5 stars waugh, 2 Aug 2011
This review is from: The Way of the World (Hardcover)
good read. as it's a collection of writings that first appeared in the daily telegraph, the chapters are 'bitesize'. it is funny, waugh has a dry wit. throughout the book there are recurrent themes e.g dislike of americans and ramblers. having read many of clarkson's books and by admission clarkson's favorite writer, there are many similarities in their attitudes toward certain topics. politics feature throughout from 1991-1994, so the four stars (not five) is because i was too young then so couldn't identify with certain viewpoints that waugh puts forward.

will be buying 'kiss me chudleigh'

if your not too bothered about politics then buy 'world according to dave barry'.

3.0 out of 5 stars pizza pan, 2 Aug 2011
it will rust very quickly if you don't dry it properly (it happened to me). the pan needs seasoning too. but it's a cheap pan and the attraction with this one is the size.
