1.0 out of 5 stars Worst movie ever?, 19 Jan 2007
My housemates rented this movie, so I joined them to watch it. Putting it quite simply - I wish I hadn't; surely everyone has something better they could be doing for 88 minutes? This is a dire film: pointless dialogue that leads to nowhere, little or no character development, absolutely no plot and an ending that will shock in its abruptness (as other reviewers have said, it shocks as it comes before the film has really started). Despite my fellow viewers' assurance that it was about to explode into some sort of action, it never did, and I can only advise to avoid this movie at all costs, unless you have an hour and half to spare watching untalented actors read out a poorly written script with little or no conviction, and absolutely no excitement.

Fever Pitch
Fever Pitch
by Nick Hornby

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read, 14 Aug 2005
This review is from: Fever Pitch (Paperback)
I received this book from a friend as a birthday present, who chose it because of its subject knowing I was a big football fan. Perhaps this was a rather misguided choice, though, as although Fever Pitch is based around Hornby's childhood (and early manhood) experiences of football, it is so much more than a run-of-the-mill football book. Its beautifully crafted life experience stories are, admittedly, set around key Arsenal matches in the 1980s, but if this were to put of non-football fans it would truly be a shame. Unlike many authors, especially in this genre, Hornby has a gift of true communication - throughout the book one gets the feeling of being with him as he searches for the purpose of his life, and the position of his hobby-come-obsession within that.
Although for non-football fans the match descriptions may seem dull and unappealing, they make up only a small percentage of the book and are included in such a way as to be intrinsic to the storyline rather than as an added extra to appeal to the terraces. It is in crafting this into his personal life that Hornby achieves his real success, and creates what many believe to be the best football book ever.
But don't forget, this book isn't just about Arsenal, or even football, but about how a young Londoner grows up, and learns to live his own life. A heart-warming tale, not to be overlooked.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good, simple product, 14 Aug 2005
This review is from: AEI Digisender (Accessory)
Firstly, I would like to mention that unlike many of the previous reviewers, I have experienced no problems with the 'magic eye' which enables a remote control to work on the second TV. In fact, this is, in my opinion, the best feature of this product, as long as someone else isn't trying to watch another channel, as this can lead to long and arduous 'remote control wars'!
As for the product itself, it sends perfect digital quality pictures to the second TV which is matched by the sound. The only problem I have found is the signal can interfere with other things (I have wireless broadband which was affected, for example) but this should not put anyone off purchasing as unless there are many different wireless products being used in the same house this can be overcome by simply changing the signal channel using a simple, accessible switch on the back of the sender unit.
All in all, this is an excellent product that is simple to use and, indeed, set up. I have marked down one star simply because of its price which I feel is high compared to others on the market, although if you want to be certain you are getting a quality product and are prepared to pay for peace of mind, this is the one for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, 14 Aug 2005
This is an absolutely outstanding product from Samsung. The flat screen ensures glare is not an issue; sound quality is excellent from the dual speakers while settings are easy to configure using the simple remote-controlled interface. For a medium sized television of such high quality from a well known and trusted maker there really is little better than this, and I would advise anyone thinking about buying to do so without delay!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy revision guide, 24 Jun 2005
Forget any other revision guide you've been looking at, because this series of Letts revision guides is definitely the best I've found, containing information on all the major Business Studies syllabuses (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC and NICCEA) as well as showing what information is relevant to each syllabus in the main body of the book.
With plenty of diagrams and notes the guide contains all you need to know as well as supplementing content with case studies and evaluation hints. There is also a section on how to answer questions in their various forms.
I really do recommend this guide as it has all you need to know in a good length, well presented book. I used it, and I did OK!

AS Business Studies: People and Operations Management Flash Revise Cards: People and Operations Studies
AS Business Studies: People and Operations Management Flash Revise Cards: People and Operations Studies
by Andrew Gillespie
Edition: School & Library Binding

5.0 out of 5 stars If you need to revise quickly..., 24 Jun 2005
...then this is certainly the way. A great series of revision cards that have single handedly got me back on course for an A-grade. I'd also reccomend the other titles in this series as they really are that good, as long as you do actually use them and don't think just because you have them on your shelf you'll magically learn what they say!
Each card has four questions of ranging types (open ended, yes or no, definitions etc.) and difficulties, with answers on the reverse that will help you learn or confirm knowledge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, 22 May 2005
It's not often you get to use the word 'superb', but this is a product that certainly merits such as description. OK, so it might not have the range of some other devices, but 10m is more than adequate for most users and is all you get from most devices you'll want to communicate with anyway.
Quick to install, easy to use interface and best of all, much cheaper than its rivals. Don't waste money on anything else when you can get this little beauty for a fraction of the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a USB pen drive, what more do you want?, 3 May 2005
Let's be honest, when it comes to storage, there's not a lot to choose between different makes and models.
If you want a 256mb storage pen, this will do you just fine. It's easy to use (just plug and play, as you'd probably expect), looks perfectly OK (I mean, come on, if you're basing your purchase of a storage device on its looks, then this has everything going for it!), has a nice little (easy to use) security feature if you want it, and most importantly is nice and cheap.
If you want more than a cheap, working product that looks good, then you're asking too much.
