He just sings the song of my life. The American Divine Comedy if you will. If you love melancholic electro with more than a side order of swearing, he's your boy ;) x x x

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ska compilation ever!!, 20 Nov 2009
This review is from: Liquidators (Audio CD)
Being a child of the Second Ska revival in the very early eighties was awesome. It wasn't until later in my life tho that i discovered my beloved Specials and Madness et al were all bloomin' thieves!! Only joking, i love them all, but to discover the origins of Ska was eye opening/mind bending/ear twisting. This compilation is the absolute business. I play it to everyone and they all love it baby. Buy it, trust.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best DVD i've ever bought, 14 Nov 2009
This review is from: Live At Reading [DVD] [2009] (DVD)
YesYesYes. This is soooooooooo good. It is an emotional experience. Reading his book was moving but depressing at times. This DVD however is completely uplifting. Buy this and we can beat Michael Jackson in the charts all over again.

Fear of Music: The Greatest 261 Albums Since Punk and Disco
Fear of Music: The Greatest 261 Albums Since Punk and Disco

3.0 out of 5 stars The Never ending quest, 31 Jan 2009
The quest being to find the definitive book that compiles ALL the greatest albums. This of course is impossible. We would have to write our own individual books. Just a quick flick though Garry Mulholland's book reveals glaring omissions. No "Leftism", no "Nevermind" or "In Utero". Only one Sonics album included but room for 3 Pet Sop Boys albums. I'm thinking this could be a list of 1261 great albums and I would still be left unsatisfied. That said this book is well written and just like other "Best Albums Ever" books I have discovered new music in my never ending quest to build a fabulous cd collection. Worth a read.

I absolutely love the Phonics, but not this album. Described by many critics as a return to form after the turgid effort You Gotta Go There To Come Back. Far from it! All albums before Language. Sex. Violence. Other? are solid classics, never far from my stereo. This album though i find virtually unlistenable. Its just a lazy mechanical chugg along. Dakota being the one exception. A song good enough to pull the wool over the critics eyes. P.s. You Gotta Go There... is my favourite Phonics album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic debut, 25 April 2007
This review is from: Fuzzy Logic (Audio CD)
I'm a huge fan of bands debut albums. Whether it be Oasis, The Clash, Weezer or R.E.M. There's something really pure and unspoilt about that first effort that artists make. From the heart without celebrity to marr the music. Super Furry's is no exception. Fuzzy logic rocks along in a wonderful dream like scape that they will never recapture in any of they're follow ups. Not to say that they haven't made other quality albums. They sure have! But please buy this one, it's outstanding and stands the test unlike many 90's albums. 5 stars*****
