The Collected Novels of the Bronte Sisters (Wordsworth Library Collection)
The Collected Novels of the Bronte Sisters (Wordsworth Library Collection)
by Emily Brontë
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £8.42

5.0 out of 5 stars A Library of 19th Century Literature, 10 Jun. 2013

It is uneccessary for me to review the individual novels of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte as they are all masterpieces. This is a short approval of the hardback itself of which I am highly satisfied. The cover is creative and attractive; the novels are placed in order of Author and of the year of publication.
Unfortunately this is not the kind of book you'd bring on a trip or a holiday as it is too big and heavy. But it certainly decorates any bookshelf on whick it sits ready to opened and enjoyed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Concise History of Europe in 400 pages, 10 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is an excellent example of history made more approachable and introductory to people new in this field of study. The book is well structured with its sections focusing on specific eras and chapters concerned with important and significant events. The book is wide-ranging concerning the countries it covers. Russia, Sweden and to an extent the Ottoman Empire are treated will equal importance as the Western Countries, which is at times hard to find in a general study of history.
Using descriptive narrative writing and in many cases irony, the topics at hand are brought closer to the reader making it a pleasant and fascinatingly interesting read. I highly recommend this book to anyone new to the field, for revision or out of interest sake. A brilliant introduction to more than 2000 years of European History.

Hans Zimmer composed yet another work of art with this terrific soundtrack. Many pieces make good use of Egyptian Instrumentation setting the mood really well. The songs are brilliantly coordinated and well written. Another must-have soundtrack by Zimmer.

5.0 out of 5 stars The World in your hands, 29 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is very accurate strategical game, in which you can choose any nation of the world between 1399 and 1820. Once a country is chosen you govern its politics, economics, internal and foreign affairs and can even lead it through wars (Imperial, colonial, succession). I advise the player to go through all the tutorial stages, as gameplay can be confusing and overwhelming at first. The tutorials explain everything really well.
But be warned! This game can become very addictive and time-consuming. But it is most certainly worthwhile if you're a fan of historical-strategy games.

This review is from: Blue Velvet [DVD] (DVD)
A brilliant film deserves a good DVD with plenty of bonus features. This was luckily the case with this one. The film itself couldn't be better and is highly recommended. I found the price very decent and fair. Truly a five-star film on a five-star DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Disney Soundtracks to date, 31 Aug. 2012

Lively songs, heart opening themes and a wonderful sense of nostalgia make the Soundtrack of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" a true masterpiece. Alan Menken undoubtedly mastered this soundtrack. Since my purchase, I have listened to each song over twenty times and I have to admit that I could never get bored by it!
Not to be missed (or forgotten) on any shelf of a collector or fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Book on a Fantastic Personality, 31 Aug. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book gives an excellent account on the entire life of Jeanne Bécu, later to be known as "Madame du Barry". The book is beautifully written and gives the reader everything he needs to know about King Louis XV's last maîtresse-en-titre.
I was particularly impressed by the chapters following her life at court and after her departure from the Pont aux Dames convent. An intense focus was given on her entire life and a full biography has thus been completed. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in 18th Century France, aristocracy at court or simply a well written biography.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Introduction to the Language, 29 Feb. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the fourth language course of this series I have purchased and I must say that I am most pleased. The general layout is very similar to other courses of this series and is certainly just as enjoyable and helpful. Accompanied by two CDs, this step by step course offers you the best opportunity to start learning a beautiful language that will open doors into the friendly cultures and societies of Portugal and Brasil.
Containing 10 lessons altogether, each lesson consists of key phrases and exercises, covering a certain topic (e.g. in a bar, asking for directions etc.) Each lesson is followed by a general revision exercise and a quiz. There are also three Checkpoints in which all of the past lessons are revised. Useful information about the country itself and its people is given throughout the topics. The course is designed extremely well.
The language itself is in my opinion divine and sadly highly underestimated. Although it is similar to Spanish and various other Latin languages, it has its own bases and origins. Portuguese is truly a wonderful language to have.
If you are interested in learning Portuguese, then this is surely the course to start off with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Concise, Accurate & Worthwhile, 29 Feb. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I must admit that I did expect this book to be a little longer but upon viewing its content there was no reason for it to be. After all it is a "short" Oxford history and every significant event/information is considered in this edition. It accurately covers economics, society, culture, politics, foreign affairs and the three kings during the period of 1648-1788 in Old Regime France.
I would certainly recommend this book to anyone with a strong interest in this most significant and fascinating history of one of Europe's most influential nations, La Belle France.
