5.0 out of 5 stars Excellently Realised. An Instant Classic., 19 July 2012
The newly adapted BBC4 Classica Chandler series highlights just how great Chandler is and in this superbly produced audiobook series, Toby Stephens shines as the hard boiled detective.
Outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Surprisingly Practical Approach, 15 Aug 2011
At under 90 pages, this book presents a little gem and an excellent introduction into an approach of acting as developed by the authors and David Mamet, William H Macy and Gregory Mosher, and that is now being realised and taught at Atlantic Acting School. It stirs clear of unnecessary extended explanation but remains true to its title to be precise and above all practical in the way it sets out its principals. As any 'Guide' or 'Handbook' to anything that is a personal responds to something, such as acting, it may appear at times a little dogmatic, but the fundamental points of the technique to look to connect oneself with ones imagination and to develop a craft of ones acting are very true and relevant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let there be (de-)light., 22 Sep 2010
This wonderful little book delights and is to be highly recommended.

Mr Crystal manages to write wittily and appropriately about this his latest project, examining the impact of the King James Bible on the English Language. It is an enjoyable read, and the structure of it invites readers to dip in and out, whether it is on the tube, bed-side or indeed the loo.
The author balances research and academia with enjoyable trivia, leaving the reader delighted, and little illuminated after every chapter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting and Profound, 15 July 2009
Mr Rashid brings an incredibly detailed and excellent account of the Taliban and the backgrounds of its emerging in Afghanistan. Through his experience as a reporter in the country make his narrative one of high detail and justly draws upon the influences that made the Taliban the force it became.
It is to be highly recommended to be read by the wider public for its relevance in today's and tomorrow's politics.
