5.0 out of 5 stars simply the best, 5 Feb. 2005
This review is from: Zone Of The Enders (Video Game)
Amazing story lines and in depth characters are ment to be in the RPG realm, Zone of Enders completely brakes that rule. A twisting, turning plot that keeps you glued to your tv hour after hour. With the voice acting pretty good for once you almost feel your in the game itself. Despite all this the game is still packed with non stop action until the very end. The manga cut scenes/FMV's suit the game really well, giving it a variety and new angle that other games lack. Easy, fluid controls make it a joy to play, with no annoying glitches or bugs the game play is smooth and keeps the game running. None of the usual problems with AI come up here e.g. stupid enemies, unlimited enemies or getting stuck in walls. However there are invisible walls, theres no way around that. Another RPG like aspect of ZOE is a kind of "world map" which you travel around to get to different places. This lets you revisit places to collect secrets or health packs. But it doesn't take hours of walking around to get to your destination. You get to control your camera, so you'll never find yourself in the situation that you get beaten because you can't see your character.
You play as Leo, who's home, a space station orbiting jupiter, is attacked by an army of "orbital frames". As he runs for safety he stumbles into a hanger containing a state of the art, super powerful orbital frame called Jehuty. Of course he then goes and saves the world (or spacestation in this case). But it isn't the usual cleice story, which is a nice change from most games.
Very nice gameplay graphics round this off as one of the best games on ps2. A must have for every playstation owner.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best RPG since 7, 14 Dec. 2004
This review is from: Final Fantasy X (PS2) (Video Game)
I'm a big fan of final fantasy and as most was dissapointed by 8. As I'd just bought a playstation 2 I decided to get the newest installment. Without the highest expectations i got a BIG suprise. This game is AMAZING!!!!!!! The graphics are so-so until you get to you're first cut scene, in the blitzball arena. These graphics will blow you away! They haven't been beaten by any game, any console, until ninja gaiden (released 2 years later) on xbox. You are really brought into the blitz game and think it can't get better. You're wrong. In the middle of the game an evil entity (beautifully rendered) completely destroys the stretching metropolis of Zanarkand.
Our hero, tidus, has to fight his way out of the destroyed city with help from his mysterious ally Auron. The action continues through out the game helped on it's way with stunning land scapes, beautiful graphics and a compelling and twisting story.
Following most RPG's ffx has a turn based battle system, this does slow fighting down but give you time to consider you're next move. One amazing feature of the battle system is the ability to change you're characters mid battle. This gives you an unimaginably wider range of tactics, and abbilities at you're disposal. Unlike alot of ff's in 10 you're main character wont completely wipe the board. Abilities vary in strength and uses.
The usual hp system is replaced by the sphere grid, whilst you still gain points after battling enemies you then earn the ability to move on the sphere grid. Different spheres that you pick up on you're travels will gain you different powers, power spheres increase you're strength and life, whilst a speed sphere will increase you're characters ability to evade attacks.
This game will give you hundreds of hours of fun and have a near endless supply of mini games and side quests that offer almost unlilmited playability.
This is one of the best games for ps2. buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best album I've ever heard, 11 Dec. 2004
Meteora is the best album I have EVER heard, it mixes rock, electronica, and rap perfectly. Like their first album, Hybrid Theory it's quite short, only 40 minutes or so, but this does nothing to limit the music. I can find absoloutly no fault in this, right down to the cover it's briliant. Any Linkin Park fan should buy this, really anyone should buy this. Heavy rock fans shouldn't be put off buy the rap and R&B elements, I'm a fan of Metallica, Black Sabbath, Papa Roach and Lostprophets and I usually go for heavy bands, this did NOT dissapoint me! Go out and buy this album and you will never regret it, it's amazing!

4.0 out of 5 stars The original and the best, 9 Oct. 2004
This is the first ever rainbow 6 and is in a league of it's own. although the graphics are pretty bad what do you expect from a game that is about as old as the console you play it on. A great a array of weapons and gadgets give you the ability to do just about anything you could do in real life. It's near perfect balance of stealth and 'kill everything that moves' give every gamer an enjoyable ride. The only anoying thing that makes it miss five stars is in the missions with hostages the hostages themselves are both very slow and unbelivably stupid. They follow you but take the shortest rout towards you, with a blatent disregard for the laws of physics, 'no that wall wont let you through...........even if you ask nicely'.
Other than that a damn good game. Buy it!
p.s. you have to look directly at the keypad to open the door.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best n64 game ever, 8 Oct. 2004
People say that star wars games always fail, i agree.........mostly. This is as playable as the x wing/tie fighter original games but better. Easy controls ,4 spaceships and another 3 to unlock, massivley varying levels and exciting enemies all wrap up to make a near perfect game. And, once you've completed it you can get loads of cheats which make it even more fun to play! The graphics are hardly up to date but the game was made almost 5 years ago. This is no lucas arts wash out that relies on the name to sell. This is the best star wars game on the market. If only someone would make a revamped online playable version for ps2.
All star wars fans would be mad not to buy this game!

1.0 out of 5 stars had more fun washing the care, 8 Oct. 2004
This review is from: Tekken 4 (PS2) (Video Game)
This is the worst, absolutly most terrible game i have ever, ever played. The graphics in the videos are pretty good but then are pathetic in the actual game. It actually tries to have a story line which is the biggest mistake that a arcade beat em up can do. pathetic sci fi backgrounds for the characters, things that a seven year old could come up with in just a few seconds. Tekken is suposed to be the best beat em up on the market but even the beat em up side to it just fails as much as the rest of it. Absurd levels of power, really powerful people that are so slow you never get a hit in, lightning fast characters that can do absaloutley no damage at all, and then theres the guy who can move as fast as any and knock you out in one punch. Where is the challenge?! i've been playin it for about 3 weeks now and the button bashability is so much i dont even know the controls! you don't need to!

4.0 out of 5 stars Best star wars game i've played, 4 Oct. 2004
I am a great star wars fan and have ,as everyone has been, embarresed to be a fan when you see what lucas arts is producing. However i got this game on recomendation of a freind and found it thoroughly enjoyable. Some odd and anoying things (Enemies that don't die when you set them on fire!?) Stopped this game reaching the five stars but still this is the best game from lucas arts for a VERY long time. Good graphics and an exciting plot give the game pace and action while keeping it from the herds of 'if it moves shoot it' games out there. Great range of weapons to kill you're enemies with (including a flame thrower, yes people burn!) and a great range of enemies to test those weapons on! Even some wierd 12 foot long cat thing!
Very enjoyable but brought down thanks to some dodgy parts. Well worth the buy if you're a star wars fan!
