Enjoyed these guys at a recent Fossil Collective gig in Bristol.
Musically tight unit with a distinctive sounding lead singer and a drummer that holds the band together.
Simple Kids is a great single that just needs airplay on national radio to make it happen. Given the right break you could be hearing more from this four piece from the Deep South. [Well, Kent and London anyway]
Fingers crossed!

Just imagine you are driving through the mid west and you stop at a roadside cafe for a beer. The place is jumping with good old country style rock and roll, which is a mixture of Steve Earle, The Drive by Truckers and any number of traditional country artists. Then you could well be listening to Shurman.

Led by their original band member Aaron Beavers, they have been recording and gigging the USA circuit for over a decade. Their current Bass player, Mike Therieau adds a further dimension to the band with a soulful and melodic voice, which in first hearing could be misconstrued for being female? Mike takes the lead on a couple of tracks which changes the whole feel of the band in a very positive way.

Shurman are touring the UK in 2013 and I for one will look forward to seeing them in Bristol. Great tunes with catchy hooks make Shurman easy to listen to and this album is great value for money. Enjoy!

This five piece from Austin, Texas create Indie style music with a dark side, that is easy to like. With shades of the Imagine Dragons the opening track " My Favourite Place" sets the tone. These guys can rock, whilst the slower songs show equal amounts of quality and tightness with a band who have played together for years.

Their self titled album also beginning with "My Favourite Place" is testament to a great band who desrve success.

This good quality product arrived quickly and was easy to cut and place in position. Selling the coir matting in different small sizes minimizes wastage, as often you can only purchase the matting in 2m widths.

With a wonderful mix of Fleet Foxes and Turin Brakes at their best, this album delivers on all fronts. After listening to their two previous EP's and the free download from their website, the first full length album was eagerly awaited. It delivers with a wonderful flowing musicality, making it easy on the ear whatever the mood and wherever you are?

This two piece from Leeds will hopefully gain more fans from their current tour and I for one look forward to seeing them in Bristol. The challenge is to reproduce the mood in a live setting and to keep coming up with outstanding tracks such as Let It Go, which will make the band more commercial and gain increased levels of air play. As an album, the tracks all play their part to make the mood work and long may it continue.

Buy the album, put on your headphones and just listen. Trust me, there are far worse things to do in this life.

These guys recently toured the UK as support for Mumford and Sons. They are melodic and easy listening with an alternative folk / country sound. Ones to watch for the future, no doubt.

If you mix together some of the early Eagles melodies and Fleet Foxes, this is probably the sound that you would achieve?

Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars High on price and poor on quality, 12 Dec 2012

This product arrived in good time with much anticipation. On opening the packaging there was a minor blemish on the seat caused by the screws in the hinge above, but not wanting to make a fuss I managed to touch up the damage with some brown paint.

Within the first couple of weeks one of the hinges snapped across a weak point in the casting and two days later the second hinge also snapped? For a toilet seat that cost in excess of 50, the hinges are very poor quality and the seat is extremely cold to the skin.

After contacting the Wenko company direct in Germany I was told that they could not help me with a replacement hinge as they did not make this product any more? As we were expecting visitors last weekend I have had to purchase another toilet seat from a local shop and will certainly not purchase or recommend a Wenko toilet seat again.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Difficult 3rd Album, 22 Aug 2012

If you count the band's first offering as an album, based on the grounds that the Songs for Patience is only 15 minutes longer, then this is the classic difficult third album. As a fan of the band I found it disappointing as an album, despite several good individual tracks. It sadly screams of a band who are losing direction and struggling to find their true identity.

The Thief and the Heartbreaker hooked many fans into a band who could cross many genres such as folk and rock with ease, and produce their own originality.Broken Side of Time took the band to new levels, whilst upsetting some of the original fans with a generally louder set of songs finished off by the wonderfully atmospheric Ghost of City Life. I met them after their Bristol gig and then watched from afar as they toured the USA and seemed to be heading the right direction with a growing fan base across both sides of the Atlantic.

Songs of Patience starts with " Magnolia" which in itself is not a bad track and then continues with "Crate of Gold which seems like a leftover track from the previous album. "Lay Down" is a moody but typical Alberta Cross track which would grace any of their albums to date."Come on Maker" and "Life without Warning" both have overtones of Oasis, but there are plenty of worse bands to sound like, and are both very strong vocal tracks. "Ophelia on my mind" and "I believe in Everything" are both over produced and I would have liked to hear a rougher edge with far less polish.Hopefully these tracks may sound better "live" without the heavy over production? "Wasteland" is a little too pop music orientated, and appears to be trying too hard to capture a commercial sound. "Money for the Weekend" in my opinion is the poorest track on the album and would be better treated as an album filler. Closing the album is "Bonfires" which threatens greatness, but sadly only hits the bar. Saying that,Ghost of City Life is an extremely hard act to follow.

For fans of the band, the album is still worthy for the collection and easy to listen too in the car, but when you look back in a few years time it will not be termed a classic. The best thing about this band is that I still firmly believe that the best is yet to come, and when it happens I can say I told you so. Come on lads, stop trying too hard and just let it flow!
