4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Prog, 16 Mar 2010
This review is from: Gathering Light (Audio CD)
I first listened to Karnataka on a free cd from CLassic Rock mag, it made me buy the live album they were promoting at the time .the live album was so good I started to look at there back catalogue. But on further research found out that the band were in a form instability.
Then along came Gathering Light what can I say, Ian Jones has produced an album that brings, part early Genesis, classic Genesis in the way the drums are played and produced (ie)in the air tonight Collin's solo hit,and superb guitar playing in the form of Mr Gilmour by Enrico Pinna. The album starts with an accoustic folky intro then goes into probably the best track on the album , an instrumental that reminds me of The duke album behind the lines. The voice that is Lisa Fury is the same as you would expect from Mostly Autumn and the like , but as the album goes on she find,s herself in a different light probably Gathering Light. Sorry for that.If you want an album that mixes the best (good) Genesis,PInk Floyd,Enya this is the album. Buy it you will not be dissapointed

4.0 out of 5 stars welcome back, 26 April 2008
This review is from: Focus 9/New Skin (Audio CD)
This is the best Focus album,in my humble opinion, since moving waves. The flute is there the hammond and of course the guitar all played really well. The different styles of music seem to merge together with an ease that only Focus at their best can do. I don,t think there is a weak track, but the standouts are Focus 7,Aya-yuppie-hippie-yee and European Rapsody. The album also boasts a track with lyrics and real singing, which would go down well on a Van Morrison album. But don,t let that put you off, it is a really good track. It also runs for about 74 mins so good value as well , if you are still unsure don,t be just buy it you won,t be dissapointed

5.0 out of 5 stars This is good, 9 Feb 2007
This review is from: STORMS OVER LONDON TOWN (Audio CD)
Having listened to a track from a free cd,I decided to buy the limited edition double cd Heart Full Of Sky, it is fantastic.I then bought this album and the studio album Storms Over Still Waters, they are both brilliant. If you like classic Genesis, Pink Floyd,a touch of Yes and UFO with a hint of Clannad you will love all the albums I have mentioned. It's sad to think if I did not hear this band on a free cd, i would not know their music. They are the band all us forty somethings have been waiting for.

4.0 out of 5 stars An album full of class, 21 Jun 2003
This review is from: Olias of Sunhillow (Audio CD)
This album is full of haunting melodies surrounded by complex rythms and arrangements, sometimes coming to a spine tingling crescendo and at others floating through the air to soothe the mind. This album was written at a time when progressive music was at it's creative peak and because of this fact it doesn't dissapoint. It is a piece of work that was underrated at it's release but has stood the test of time. I would recommend this album strongly even if you are not a Yes fan.
