4.0 out of 5 stars Works for PS3 12GB - but not straight away, 28 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this to upgrade the PS3 12GB Super Slim to a (more than) reasonable size.

The new PS3 12GB at about £150 is a bargain, but it does lack some space for 2012 living. However, fortunately it is designed to be easily upgraded by the owner. Although the PS3 recognised the drive right away, it couldn't format it correctly and load the system software. The solution was to go into the PS3 safe mode (Google how to do this) and then select Option 1a. After that it was fine and the measly 12GB is now a whacking 831GB available space. Note that you will need a caddy to put the drive into to keep it safe and secure.

2.0 out of 5 stars spoiled by the audio, 16 Aug. 2010

This review is from: Numb3rs - Season 2 [DVD] (DVD)
This is a really great show that is almost ignored in the UK. The dvd box set should be a thing to treasure, but the sound is awful. I am convinced that this is a 5.1 problem. Watching it on a regular stereo tv, you can hardly hear the speech without the background effects and music drowning it out. Such a shame. It may be ok on a proper 5.1 setup, but not on my telly.

The Grail Quest (3) - Heretic
The Grail Quest (3) - Heretic
by Bernard Cornwell
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Hookton Bows Out, 7 Feb. 2009
This, the final book in the trilogy of Thomas Hookton, Bowman extraordinaire, is a wonderful tail of heroism, amidst the usual grungie background of 13th Century France. It not only ties up all the loose ends of the first two book, but also packs a great punch in itself too. It has all the elements you want out of a Cornwell book. Heroes, Villains, Impossible quests, Evil Church leaders, Battles, Gore and Honour. Plus a fair amount of bad weather and a touch of the Black Death too, as the winter approaches.

If you think you've had a bad day at the office, think of those who lived in this time and consider yourself lucky that you're not among them.

Pure escapism - when's the film coming out?

4.0 out of 5 stars 60 and still going strong, 26 Mar. 2007
I first started collecting Elton John music when I heard Rocket man back in the 70's. I bought all old ones too, including Tumbleweed and Madman, and then went on to watch in awe as Elton turned into the superstar he still is today.

Every album over the past 40 years (!) is different. This one focuses mainly on the well-known material, but gives a taster of some of the older songs too. It would have been better to have been a double (or triple) CD with a few more songs from the early 70's too. But maybe we'll get that later.

Remember the "Your song" was written in 1969.

So buy this album, and then start to find out about the man who is without doubt the UK's most successful rock star of all time

5.0 out of 5 stars The Funniest Book Ever Written, 28 Aug. 2005
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I first came across this in the school library when I was 12 (35 years ago!) I have read it and re-read it again and again. In a desert-island-disks type moment I chose it as one of my quintessentially English books to take with me when I went to live in the USA for a year. I cannot read it in public - or in the presence of my wife due to the unstoppable sniggering that it induces in me (and the rolling eyes this induces in her!). I love the 'Maze' scene and am laughing now just thinking about it. The hypochondria opening is a classic moment too (Housemaid's knee!)
Please read it - yes it's Victorian humour, but it's STILL funny today.
I was devastated when I found it was number 101 in BBC's 'Good Read' 100 favourite books ever list a couple of years ago - Shame on the BBC!

5.0 out of 5 stars Shame I can;t vote for 10 STARS, 10 Mar. 2005
This review is from: Crime Of The Century (Audio CD)
Three words - "Buy It Now!"
There is not one even vaguely inferior song - it all just blends together so well.
The only "Crime Of The Century" is if you don't play this at least once a month for the rest of your life. It has never dated. When it came out (yes I am that old) it stood well out from the crowd. It still stands just as high, particularly among the rubbish that claims to be music these days.
Is it a classic? - You're Bloody Well Right it is!
Did I say "Buy It Now?"
