2.0 out of 5 stars Standards slipping, 6 Dec 2012
Having read everything that John Connolly has written I am always eager for a new title, he has kept me on the edge of my seat for many a night, so it was with great anticipation that I this installment in the Charlie Parker series. Alas it would seem that my foregone conclusion of it being another dark, foreboding tale turned out to be no more than a somewhat dreary tale with too much detail spent on establishing short lived characters and not enough on supporting what should have been a good plot. Whilst I'm all for character realisation going in depth for nearly everyone is a bit much and if he'd omitted this then the book would probably have been half the size it was. Suffice to say that this time round JC did not do it for me, hoping that this was just a one off occurrence, will just have to wait and see.

5.0 out of 5 stars A jolly good show, 10 Sep 2012
90 minutes of adrenalin for junkies like me, it doesn't have any false pretenses to Oscar stardom. It's just 90 minutes of unequivocal action give or take the odd minute here or there. Very enjoyable

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely smashing, 16 Jan 2012
This review is from: The Killing - Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
I don't know how they do, but having watched "the killing" series one I was waiting with anticipation for the new series and the wait was certainly worth it. An absolute corker of a sequel, you cannot fault the writers, they have managed to come up with a very original plot as well as encompassing a political twist. I won't go into the actual plot but suffice to say that anyone given the chance to watch this in original language should take the opportunity, you won't regret it. Let's hope the yanks don't try and do a rip off of this one like they did the first

5.0 out of 5 stars The Danish equivalent of the Wire, 22 Aug 2011
An avid fan of police dramas as well as foreign language films, this series has had me rivited to my seat for the past five nights whilst I devoured all 20 episodes. Had I been in a position to watch it on TV I'm sure I would have ensured that nothing got in the way of me following the series. Absolutely marvellous; spot on acting, a great story line, believeable characters, so many twists and turns you don't know who to believe. A great shame that it came to an end but I look forward to a sequal and hope that the director, writers and actors are able to maintain the outstanding quality that makes this production stand out.

Iron Fist Here I Lie Shortsleeve Printed Men's T-Shirt
Iron Fist Here I Lie Shortsleeve Printed Men's T-Shirt

5.0 out of 5 stars Great t shirt, 17 July 2011
I picked this up due to the design, always on the lookout for something different, and I have to say that I'm very happy with it. Not only is it something different but the t shirt is of a good quality as is the print itself. In total now I have four shirts by Iron Fist and I cannot fault any of them

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice but............, 16 May 2011
Bought this shirt because of the design, like abstract stuff. But after one wash (following washing instructions) the transfer started to come off and to be honest stuff like this is better asa screen print which handles washing much better

1.0 out of 5 stars A bit like Berlusconi, 19 Nov 2010
This review is from: The Whisperer (Paperback)
The adage "never judge a book by its cover" comes to mind especially when it's covered in superlatives about how it's the Italian equivalent of Stieg Larsson novels. The only thing missing from the plot was aliens and to be honest I think the author just an out of pages otherwise they'd be in there to. I'm not sure if you can give a book no stars which would be my preferred choice otherwise I'll have to grudgingly give it one but only with an arm twisted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, 23 Mar 2010
This review is from: Lennox (Paperback)
Ok it's no literary masterpiece but as far as an entertaining read goes it's up there with the best of them. An enjoyable romp through 1950's Glasgow with a likable main character and a good plot, my only criticism is the language, not enough dialect used for a city where even some Scots have a heard time understanding. Looking forward to the next novel

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor indeed, 14 Mar 2010
For an accomplished writer I am very surprised that Mr Koontz even thought this worthy to go to print. I could forgive it if it was a first effort from an up and coming author but it's just complete drivel from start to finish, actually it was so bad I couldn't even finish it. If I could give it no stars that would have been my first choice

1.0 out of 5 stars Cardboard from start to finish, 4 Jan 2009
This review is from: The First Fingerprint (Hardcover)
I don't know if the book was badly written to start with or badly translated but whatever it was this is not a good read. The characters are lifeless and the dialogue poor, although this may be down to translation, and each comes with the bog standard personal "problems" that seem to be the trade mark of genre. The author cannot evoke life into his descriptions of Marsaille, it all seems flat and colourless. The whole episode just doesn't gel together and the main character seems incapapble of holding a discussion without going off on a tangent. Why did I finish reading the book?? You must always give the author a chance to redeem themselves. Didn't happen this time.
