4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but does the job, 2 April 2014

Cheap, effective & means I don't have to take my iPhone out of its case when docking. Could be a tighter fit on the dock though.

Only had this a little while, but it seems to work well with no buffering on my less than speedy broadband connection. Netflix, iPlayer & YouTube all run fine. Set up is a doddle, but as a few reviewers have mentioned, you do get an error message on your iPad when the dongle is updating its firmware suggesting there is a problem with your router. There isn't, just ignore the message & when the update is finished you should have a fully functioning Chromecast. One star off for this glitch plus the fact that there are so few compatible apps at the moment, but hopefully that will change soon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rerelease of a rerelease etc., 31 Mar 2014
This review is from: Guitar Master (Audio CD)
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the music here, but the same CD has been released several times under different titles. If you already have Heavy Hitters, The Kulick Sessions, By Invitation Only or Blood Of The Sun (the latest version) then you don't need this as you have got it already!

There is nothing wrong with the Unplugged album in & of itself, but have a care - this is simply the single disc version, NOT a box set as described.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another show cancelled too early, 9 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
OK, here we go again....another great show cancelled by a committee of overpaid morons.

Christian Slater has a great time playing Henry, a mid level office drone with the standard wife & 2 kids & alter ego Edward, his split personality who is a James Bond type working for a nefarious American secret agency. The stories are fun, the action is exciting & the supporting cast is excellent, particularly James Cromwell as the truly creepy & devious agency head.

It's a real shame that only 9 episodes were made, particularly as the characters back stories were all starting to develop in interesting ways, especially Henry/Edward's best friend Tom/Raymond who works for the same agency. Raymond's sorting out of Tom's wife's hit & run problem (I promise it all makes sense if you watch it) was marvellous & really rather touching.

Best line goes to Edward though, bemoaning a missed assassination opportunity: "Where was I when I needed myself"?

Dvd ~ Amy Price-Francis

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart, sexy & sardonic, 29 Sep 2013
First things first, Amy Price-Francis is very easy on the eye & she wears some great outfits in this show. Fortunately however, there is a lot more to King than just an attractive lead...the episodes are all well written & the supporting cast are excellent. Being Canadian rather than American gives it a slightly different feel to the majority of this sort of programme, but the show has a similarity at times, particularly in the early episodes, to The Closer in terms of a woman taking over a high profile squad, the members of which are not exactly supportive at first.

Well worth watching.

5.0 out of 5 stars Violent, foul mouthed.... and fantastic, 25 Sep 2013
OK, first things first - this is not a show for children or the easily offended. There is a LOT of extreme violence, nudity & bad language, but it is also absolutely brilliant & easily in the same league as The Shield & The Wire. Other reviewers have explained the plot & characters, so I will simply say every actor is on top form, the writing is superb & the fight scenes are some of the best I have ever seen. Lucas Hood's fight with the MMA Champion has to be seen to be believed & the final gun battle is apocalyptic & perhaps best summed up by the exchange just before...."What's your plan?" "Rescue Hood...shoot everyone else"

It is also worth noting that there is an extra scene after the credits for each episode. Don't miss them, they are important!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent update on a classic theme, 24 Sep 2013
This review is from: Elementary - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)
OK, so a female Watson is a bit hard to swallow at first, & Vinnie Jones as Sebastian Moran doesn't help, but the stories are so well written & engaging that after a few episodes it simply doesn't matter anymore. Jonny Lee Miller seems to have been mainlining a couple of Mark Williams' charachters from the Fast Show, with a dash of Tim Roth's Cal Lightman from Lie To Me (excellent show!) thrown in but he gives a stellar performance as Holmes, a new & unique take on a character perhaps portrayed by more actors than any other. All in all, a very worthwhile purchase whether you are a fan of the original canon or not.

Great Walks: Wordsworth's River Duddon [DVD]
Great Walks: Wordsworth's River Duddon [DVD]
Dvd ~ Eric Robson
Offered by outdoorsindoors
Price: £11.99

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much poetry, not enough walking, 23 Nov 2012
I have enjoyed pretty much every DVD Eric Robson has produced, from the original Wainwright sagas couple of decades or so ago through the Out Of Town releases to the Great Walks films, but I am afraid this is very much an exception. Indeed, Great Walk is something of a misnomer...there is little attempt made to link the sections of the walk together & trying to follow it yourself would be difficult to say the least. Added to this is the sheer amount of readings from Wordsworth's sonnets; something approaching half of the 50 minute or so running time seems to have been given to recitals over static shots. After the 2 excellent Stuart Maconie DVDs, this is a really disappointing release from the normally excellent Striding Edge.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great while it worked, 9 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I really wanted one of these, as the extra information provided/dials appealed to my inner geek. Unfortunately, after an initial couple of weeks of fun, the unit dropped the blue tooth connection to my Nuvi 2595 & stubbornly refused to reconnect. To be frank, it had only connected about 4 times out of every 5 journeys as it was, but this time the little green light kept flashing & there was nothing I could do to change its' mind.

I got a replacement from another Amazon seller, but this one had the same problem pretty much from the outset. It connected to my Nuvi, but refused completely to link to my engine management system, & then dropped the Nuvi connection & I was back to square 1.

A pity....as I said, it was great while it worked!
