3.0 out of 5 stars Cut Short, 31 Aug. 2010
This review is from: Mafia II (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
I thought it would be pretty good at first. The game seemed innovative, engaging and entertaining. Bit of a let down. The time period is displayed perfectly. The cars, the people, the attitude. You play the life of a wannabe gangster, who is sporadically sucessful.

Once you've played it, you can see the detail in the setting, and the story. It might seem slightly like GTA IV, but during the 40's and 50's. It has similar story, but not the extras.
Once doing a single mission, you had a high incentive to move on. Not that that is a bad thing, but it would be nice for the option to give the player a clue he can explore. You can do extra stuff, like getting certain cars to be sold or crushed, or creating some chaos at a robbery.

Once you've done a fair bit of all that, the game feels rather empty, and that all that was avaible was just for show. In terms of combat, the melee comabt is more strategical than fast paced, and you have to buy weapons, or take them off your enemies when their dead. The money gained from missions hardly makes up for what you really want to buy, and you are left to scavenge for the exotic, or save up.

This is an excellent game, but I would definitely wait until its below £20, since anything above that would be a bit of a rip off.

Pros
Very detailed setting
Displayed culture for time period excellently.
Good storyline - if a bit confusing.

Cons
Nothing much else to do apart from story
Police easy to kill - mostly.
Money hard to earn - doesn't really compensate for proper needs.
Melee combat needed more fast paced action - felt like a mini strategy game.

Get this is you want a quick mafia mobster style third person shooter game. If you want the full GTA experience, stick with IV.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Series Continued, 23 Jun. 2009
This review is from: Fallout 3 (PC) (Video Game)
I have never played any of the Fallout games before, but i can tell you this much. Fallout 3 is pretty amazing. But heres the other thing for people who bought it retail.I bought it via Steam, so all i had to do is download it, with no other things. Hopefully SeucROM wasn't installed.

Now back to the game. As i said, installation took a long time (wait overnight), but once you get in the game, the fun keeps pouring in.
The basis is you are this(male of female) who gorws up in a vault, and is then thrust out into Post-Apocalyiptic Washington DC (Capital Wasteland).
You can interact with people, ethier by killing, talking or trading.
The choices are endless, as in each speech bubble you have a good bad, normal choice.Tons of weaponry, some homemade, A dozen quests with take you the length and width of the section of DC.And everything else, which is amazinng.

Now for some bad stuff, yes unfortunaly quite a lot of people who bought reatail had to install SeucROM, and it isn't good.
For the game, well voice acting is generally good, but yo can tell where the loops are. As well as the wdie variety of character skins, i've seen a few copy and pastes. Wierd mutations...
The graphics (only according to a youtube video) were worst on ps3, better on 360, but best on PC- not my deciding or vote.
But i have to say the plot is good. And if you have 360 or PC, you have DC - downloadable content, so unfortunalty Ps3's cannot get the most of of Fallout.
Well thats all, wouldn't recommend to PS3 user, but would to 360, but if you want a quick buy, getn it digitally on PC.
7-9/10

5.0 out of 5 stars The Amazin' FPS!, 20 Jun. 2009
I have only played 1 Call of Duty before, that was the Big Red One. This time, infinity ward takes you to the present day battles in the middle east, giving you action ranging from the Bering Sea to the dark ruins of Chernobyl.
When i got this, I was impressed by the realism the game offers. The graphics are amazing, the AI is challenging, and overall offers a fantastic experience. You ethier play as 'Soap' McTavish, of the 22nd Britsh S.A.S Regiment, hunting down the V.I.P targets of the game, and switch to Sgt.Paul Jackson of the U.S Marines force, which role in the game is primarily fighting the enemy army.

The Voice acting is very good, and actually sounds as though its coming from them, and always has an appropriate accent.

The AI is suitable, and the enmy actually forces you to move via throwing hordes of grendaes at though, though there is the occaisonal stupid guy.

The weaponry is accurate, the guns making the right sound, and sniper rifles having the ability to hold your breath, unlike games where your recticlue is infintley still!

Despite the short storyline, it is all throughly enjoyable, ranging from an all out main assault by the U.S forces, to a quite steath mission in Pripyat.

The biggest thing is multiplayer, as it have an extensive system in which you have levels(though in-game the pc says its promotion) and the ability to customize a class to your personal taste, whith loads of weaponry, which you can customize, ASWELL, there are endless choices. You can call in 3 different types of support, so it should be really quite fun.

However, there are a few things that are quite annoying;
Maytrdom - You drop a live grendae when killed, real pain if you want the postion your enemy was occupying(banned on some servers)

Noobtube- another name for the grenade launcher, really quite accurate, but most servers ban it because of it easy killing potential.

Last Stand- clue in the name. Stead of dropping down dead with 2 shots or so, you whip out your pistol halfway down, and are left like that until you die. This means you can ethier pull the trigger on yourself, on have fun killing unsuspecting enemies. Very annoying banned on alot of servers

Camping - Most gamers know what this means. You stay in a good spot and shoot people who think its safe to go past your spot, or out of the dorrway your by. Can get you banned on most servers
Annoying by funny stuff-
You can get killed by the shockwave off an airstrike, yes im not kidding - have first-hand experience.
You can get shot through sheet metal, thin walls and wooden fences. No sidestep reload is safe.

I recommend 9-10/10

4.0 out of 5 stars Just about Legendary, 24 Feb. 2009
This review is from: Legendary (PC CD) (CD-ROM)
Right, from what you might of heard aboutn this game its not as good as it could be. Reviewers only notice the good and bad, and its not alll bad. If you give this game a chance it will hopefully appear better. The one thing i do admit is crappy though, is the jumping, as you can only jump about 15cm and that means you can only jump over stuff that you're mean to jump over, such as a really small statue...But the monsters are great, as a werewolf will get up uness you take of its head, and there is a fair bit of AI, although you know all their tricks by the end, making a second run boring as hell. The ending isn't that exciting or faustrating, as the only real challenge are the two minotaurs on the ground floor. You just fight your way through werewolf's and humans, which are easy and hey presto ur done. The enemy human boss gets killed, but not by you.
Overall rating 7 1/2 out of 10

This is a game for the content and not for fussy pro gamers.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little Reptitive., 1 Dec. 2008
Since i got this about a month ago, I've already done it. Good intorduction. You get into the game very quickly. After I'd done at least Ace Contract, I felt it get a little repetitive. Even though the sandox environment is cool. It gets boring. The 2nd one i think isn't much better. Overall they're okay but they might need to work on giving people fresh stuff to do. Apart from that I like the way it flows - 2 provinces, plenty of weapons, dozens of airstrikes plenty of other things and lots of MONEY. It also has a very destructive environment. Rated in the Guiness World Records at most. Even though the games are 100% good im going for the seocnd to continue the mercenaries story
Hope you like them!

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT for the faint-hearted, 20 Feb. 2008
When i first got this, it seemed relatively fun. After a while though it gets quite boring despite killing horders of Romans and other creatures. You don't really need to put much effort into it, except from Boss battles, etc.
The thing that i think makes it good is the range of Mythological creautres such as the Minotaur. If i would improve one thing it would to have a mission without actually killing. Because, they seem to of got alot of Kill,Kill,Kill chapters in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars World of Quests, 3 Nov. 2006
Since i played it a my cousins and it was fantastic. I would really like this game for my birthday soon or christmas.I like it because you can go round anywhere and do stuff that you like.I was really spurised when he gave me my own account on his game! You can choose what race(human)ect you want to be then class(warroir)ect then you just play! When i started off i was amazed at the graphics, game effects and screen interface. You can do quests, kill dragons,go to different lands(via boat, flying)ect and just have fun playing with your mates online! But beware if you are a horde and your mate is an alliance you cannot talk to each other without doing a special quest! It works the same way if your an alliance and your mate is a horde!you can also trade all sorts of stuff from wolf claw to a set of high level armour.I would recomend it to the ages of ten and above it might be a bit complicated for the ages of nine and below.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swingin in the Sixties!, 15 Oct. 2006
Since the first one is quite good I hope the second one will be double the fun! I hope the weapons, saucer weapons and mental abilities will be better. The thing i love about no.2 is it's brill multiplayer. And the fact that you get to do minigames on your own with your friends.I hope you split you sides from laughter and have a good time playing it.It's a 15+ for a reason though because it is scary sometimes.I would recommend to the ages of 10 and above.
