5.0 out of 5 stars This book could put publishers out of business, 2 July 2014
Writing a book? Not sure how to get it to the public? Then this is the guide for you. Written in plain English, Jamie Cawley's Self Publishers Guide to Book Marketing takes you from writing your final chapter up to checking revisions for your second published edition.
Jamie explains exactly what you need to do - publicity, pricing, e-books and paperbacks, cover design, where to publish and promote it etc - and how, precisely, to do it. My edition is full of bookmarks of particularly relevant points and essential website links. I cannot recommend this book too highly. Thanks Jamie.ably

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware - this is a copy of 'The American Civil War' box set., 14 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The blurb says this DVD set is frequently bought with the box set called 'The American Civil War'. This fooled me into thinking they were different stories. My mistake. This DVD set is about two thirds of the box set, so I now have paid for the same stuff twice.
Please don't make the same mistake.

1.0 out of 5 stars A very funny book indeed, 3 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you enjoy a good laugh, get this book. It is full of hilarious gibberish, such as the claim that nicotine gives off a negative wave that a magic machine can isolate and reverse. And watch out for tar seeping through the skin during detox...
Bioresonance, what magnificent nonsense, invented by a comic genius who knows there is one born every minute. Read this book and weep with laughter.

Sha Na Na
Sha Na Na

5.0 out of 5 stars I want this on digital., 24 Nov. 2013
This review is from: Sha Na Na (Vinyl)
This is the sha Na Na I grew up with. I copied it from vynal to CD at great expense, only to lose the connecting bits between tracts. Serves me right.
Great live album. Please, for Zeus's sake, someone release a digital version.
'We got one thing to say to you xxxxing hippies...
...and that is, Rock and Roll is here to stay'
Bless 'em all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aaron Fixes it Again, 11 Aug. 2013
Another great addition to Aaron Shepard's family of essential guides to epublishing. As a director of a small publishing company, I would never find the time to discover the information Aaron dispenses to keep up to date with the twists and turns of the industry.
Aaron does the heavy lifting and we get the benefit!
Written in his usual clear style, Aaron explains exactly how to format ebooks for all ereaders in order to give our customers the best possible reading experience. Annoyed by split hyphens, badly indented paragraphs, unnecessary spaces, different sized texts, changing fonts, bad text justification or just the generally amateurish look of so many ebooks? Then HTML Fixes for Kindle is the book for you.
Keep 'em coming, Aaron!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book - Superb research, reads like a thriller., 30 Mar. 2013
This review is from: Stealing the General (Paperback)
Having read several other books on the Andrew's Raid, especially William Pettinger's,and checked original papers written at the time, I cannot speak too highly of 'Stealing the General'. It has furnished me with many details necessary for my own Civil War book (comedy fiction), which includes the Andrews Raid. Just what I needed.
I wonder if author Russell S. Bonds is thinking of writing about Streight's Raid? If so, let me reserve my copy today.Sir Thomas 'British Tommy' Armstrong and The War Between the States

1.0 out of 5 stars 100 questions, 5 Mar. 2013

This review is from: Civil War Extreme Trivia (App)
100 questions with four possible answers each. Possible answers include the Union air force. That's all it is. No explanations or interactivity. Many of the questions ask who acted in various civil war films or who wrote civil war novels.
Waste of time and money.

Don't waste your money. Most 'utilities' don't work. The compass thinks North is East and the others are no better.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Scoundrel will run and run, 20 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Scoundrel! (Kindle Edition)
Author Keith Thompson has unearthed an historical gemstone. Scoundrel James Wilkinson, a rightly unsung 'hero'
of the American revolution, has emerged from the back pages of history to give us his jaundiced account of his part in it.
Whether he is skipping Virginia while the going is good, decamping Massachusetts before the trouble starts, or sidling out of New York a jump ahead of the peelers, the Scoundrel has both eyes out for the main chance; military glory (without too much danger, of course), position, rank, money and amour (as many amours as he can squeeze in).
In between scheming and fleeing, Wilkinson finds time to regale us with his views on the Great Men of the day. George Washington, Nathanael Greene, Charles Lee. None escape censure, much of it impertinent if not obscene. It is no surprise to learn that his favorite contemporary is Benedict Arnold.

The happy news is that the revolution is just the start of Wilkinson's 'military' career. The scoundrel is still about the place in 1812. Can't wait to see how he fares.

This is not just a wonderful introduction to the seamy side of history, it is a rollicking good read.
More please!
