This is a brilliant read and explores the development of society from the point of pecuniary and material development, classes and spiritual consumption. Presented in brief, incisive prose this is knowledge that everyman should posses.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece, 23 Feb 2013

There's not much left to be said about this defining work in the medium of the graphic novel. This is a story that could not have been realised in any other of literature's myriad forms. The words in narrative not less or more than the imagery, the maddening dialogues, shadow and light. I'm yet to read Alan Moore's 'Watchmen', but left without doubt that the two cannot be compared. This is a universe in it's own right, the universe of men where we are faced with the limits of freedom, righteousness and sanity. It's a dark, stellar invocation of a society that has not known what it means to be free.

The Language of Things: Design, Luxury, Fashion, Art: how we are seduced by the objects around us
by Deyan Sudjic

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read for anyone interested in objects around them, 23 Feb 2013

I'm a designer, and this is amongst the best reads I've had on the subject. The writing is succinct, lucid and simple enough to be understood by anyone passionate on the subject, and it's more about the objects that we use everyday than academic critique. I also felt that it's personal at some level; the very first chapter begins with a personal experience of Mr. Sudjic and often in the book, we are introduced to his world at appropriate junctures. I highly recommend this.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's cool, it's rebellious, it's hipster., 23 Feb 2013

This is a brilliant, brilliant product. It's more art than design, and if it is design at all, that would be in the most sarcastic sense. This is the ultimate symbol of rebellion against the smartphone: a beguiling, naive device more ancient than a calculator and slightly more useful than a talking watch. I bought it for all it's wickedness and irony, though more practical reasons could be considered, like it's immortality. This is a device that never dies, I can assure that. It might work brilliantly well for your seven-year-old as well, but unless you're an exceptionally singular person, I would not advice so. As all works of art this certainly doesn't come cheap, and you could very well spend that on unbreakable Nokias. Buy it if you're a hipster, a designer or an intelligent being who thinks – "Do I really need a smartphone?"

3.0 out of 5 stars Fine build, but slightly disappointed with the sound quality., 23 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this primarily for it's looks – I have to confess that. That being said, the sound quality could have been better. The tonal range and clarity is quite disappointing, and I felt like the device was struggling with almost any media thrown at it. For the price, I could definitely have bought better-sounding headphone, maybe more comfortables ones as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works fine, 23 Feb 2013

Works just fine, looks fairly good as well. Slightly clumsy, but that has nothing much to do with the build.
