1.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable, 25 April 2016

Absolutely awful tripe! Who would wait until the appointed hour to open the letter? Any normal person would open it immediately then go to the Police. Bit of a suspension of reality too far for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Meh, 25 April 2016

The phrase "gripping psychological thriller" seems to be bandied about everywhere these days. This was Ok but certainly not gripping. I'd worked it out about two thirds of the way in and I am sure most other readers did too.

2.0 out of 5 stars So-so, 25 April 2016

I found it hard to believe that any parent in this day and age would play hide and seek with a little child in a public place, actually closing their eyes and counting???? Seriously?? And Muriel, what happened to her in the end? We'll never know.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a shambles!, 17 Feb. 2016

This review is from: The Good Liar (Kindle Edition)
The premise was good, elderly con man giving it one last shot. I love these tales. However, what a rambling mess it turned into! It included World War 2, Cold War espionage, the Russians, a porn shop in 1970s London and child abuse. What on earth was all that about?? I didn't finish it I have to be honest I couldn't (well, didn't want to really) follow the plot. I feel as if the other reviewers on hear have read a completely different book to me...

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, thought provoking novel, 12 Feb. 2016

This review is from: Behind Closed Doors (Paperback)
An excellent, thought provoking novel. For example, would an independent woman really just hand over the proceeds from the sale of her house over to her Fiancé of only 3 months?? If he refused it because he wanted their new house to be a wedding present for her, wouldn't she just bank the money? Use it later to buy furnishings? But I digress.

I couldn't put it down. It was a bit far-fetched but I think the author structured it in such a way that it could be possible. The ending was absolute dynamite, completely blew me away. Can't wait to read more from B A Paris.

1.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't like her in any way, 4 Feb. 2016

Thoroughly unpleasant book, I couldn't finish it. The heroine was awful, never washed or brushed her hair, was always vomiting or drunk or hungover. Indulged in Tinder hook-ups with random men, having gratuitous sex in toilets.... I couldn't like her in any way.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'd be Judith's friend!, 1 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I read this over a weekend, and whilst I enjoyed it, I am not sure what it was all about! Judith did not seem intimidating or scary in any way to me, so I don't understand Chloe's 'terror'. I thought what did to Maureen was inspired and I admired her for owning up, I would not have! I would've liked some more physical description of the characters as I like to picture them but I found that hard to do as we were given so little to go on. Even the age ranges were guess work.

I seem to have read a completely different book from all the other reviewers on here, as I thought it was one big disappointment. It dragged on and on and then the very obvious final reveal was rushed and wrapped up in one chapter! Great idea but poorly written.

2.0 out of 5 stars I love Joan Collins I really do, 27 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I love Joan Collins I really do, I love her biographies and her lifestyle books but this, this was poor. So many inconsistencies, for example Gabrielle moved a cat with the toe of her boot but in the next sentence her footsteps were muffled by her faded espadrilles!! The characters were one-dimensional, vain and shallow and I didn't particularly care for any of them! Some very romanticised and overly cheesy talks between a couple who have had only 2 dates yet both know that they have found 'the one'. Very lame. I have to say I couldn't be bothered to finish it. Joan should stick to being a star and leave the bonk-buster writing alone. She will never outdo her sister Jackie!

1.0 out of 5 stars I found the characters unbelievable - do women like Wendy really exist, 7 Jan. 2016

Not what I was expecting, its starts off promising but quickly descends into Bottom-style slapstick. I found the characters unbelievable - do women like Wendy really exist? Is anyone THAT much of a doormat?? Not my style at all.
