Troy: Shield Of Thunder
Price: £5.49

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff, 26 Feb. 2014

Continues the great tale of the siege of Troy. A great "what if " alternative to The Iliad and easier to read than the traditional translations. It puts flesh and personality on the players from the age of Heroes. Having now read all three I would love to see want they could do with the Aeniad.

3.0 out of 5 stars easy reading, 26 Feb. 2014

Easy reading doesn't require to much thought. Good for travelling and light distraction. This is obviously the precursor to a series, I would think twice before buying others.

A typical rollicking medieval yarn. Mr Cornwell does not disappoint he writes with his usual attention to the historical facts as known and weaves his tale into with great skill. Up to his usual standard. I await the next!!

This was the first SF book I remember reading as a schoolboy 60 years ago. A indulgence in nostalgia. The re-read exposes its dated but that said it still moves along and I understand how I became a life long SF fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very plausable future, 27 Oct. 2013

As a part of a trilogy it wraps up the life of the hero very well, makes him almost normal. The world he lives in allows for more to be written in this location.

All the happenings are based on solid science all very believable. The foundation of great story telling. The foundation of many more great yarns no doubt.
