2.0 out of 5 stars good but ruined by actual errors, 18 April 2014
Very good book. Very balanced. Would have been 4 stars except for the repeated reference to David Walsh as british and english.

He's 100% irish julie!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to put it down, 31 Dec. 2012
fantastic book. You really feel Hamilton has credibility even though he cheated for so long. But it's a great book. one of the best you will ever read on cycling. Gives huge detail on doping patterns, products, doctors etc.

one of the best insights into the mind of a gaa player. None of the self congratulatory nonsense of the likes of Donal Og Cusack

one of the best cycling books i have read. Far better biography than william fotheringham's account which isn't bad in itself.

hard to be too enthused about this book. Nothing of interest, nothing new or revealing, same message throughout the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars As honest as you'll see, 26 May 2012
this is a very honest book with duignan bearing his soul and his demons for all to see. A fearless man on the pitch, he was fearless also in writing this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Hurling Book Ever?, 17 Mar. 2012
this was an absolutely super book. You felt like you were back in time 50-60 years ago in the crowd watching some of the matches which the author vividly recalls.

as a child of the late 70's I never saw doyle play so this book really gives a great insight into the man and the style of hurling played in the 50s and 60s.

well done to the author. highly recommended book. also bear in mind I'm from Kilkenny!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly written, best book I have ever read, 19 Feb. 2012
This is the best book I have ever read. Not only is it incredibly moving, poignant and inspiring, the writing is of an exceptional standard, as only you would expect of a man as gifted as the great Paul Kimmage.

fantastic book. Great insights into telfer, carling, brian moore and John Jeffrey.

can't recommend it high enough. Gives a great angle on the scottish feelings towards thatcher which for me really made the book 5-star.

would love to read more books like this.

Well done author!
