5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, 13 Mar 2010
This review is from: Knights Of Dark Renown (Paperback)
Knights of Dark Renown is a fantastic read and very vivid in imagination. When i first read it years ago it was my favourite of all books. The whole book draws you into the world it creates and fills your mind with images of each character and situation. This book is crying out to made into a feature film!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible!, 3 Jan 2010
First, this book is not for beginners!

This book is for programmers who want to learn C. Even then the book makes an assumption that you can read optimised, legacy code. In other words, be ready for a lot of shortcuts and lots of code brevity.

I have used this book to learn C in under a fortnight. It's straight to the point, no messing about and about as good as a programming book can be.

It really is one of the best books i have read on programming and will be used for many years!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pacino's greatest film and my favourite of all time., 21 Mar 2009
This review is from: Carlito's Way [DVD] [1994] (DVD)
This film is what i consider to be a masterpiece at every level. Brian De Palma has never hit the mark so precisely. The characters are fully fleshed out, the score remarkable and the lead mesmerising. The story is a modern shakespearean tragedy, a tale of love, regret, betrayal and hope, where Carlito tries to leave his past behind and make a new life with a former lover. Of course things do not go smoothly and as Carlito remarks 'the street is watching'. This is my favourite film of all time and truely a classic in every sense of the word. Buy it now, you will not be disappointed.

I am not buying this game if they don't remove the invasive DRM. Simple as that.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this game, you will be infected!, 9 Sep 2008
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Spore (Mac/PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
The DRM for the game utilizes securom which is essentially a virus that installs itself without warning when you install the game. There is no way to completely remove it without reformatting and it is constantly running in the background if not removed. Sucking up computer resources.

It also is overpriced. This is actually a RENTAL, not a bought game because it only lets you install 3 times. If you install over 3 times then you must call EA customer support and beg them to let you play the game you bought. Did I mention the call is not free? If you live outside the U.S. it will be a very expensive call.

DO NOT BUY THIS, and if you do buy it keep in mind that you are renting it. Not buying it. Whats really ironic about this is the DRM hasn't even stopped the pirates as it was pirated a few weeks ago. And the pirated version doesn't have Securom or install limits which makes it a better version. EA shouldn't treat its consumers like trash if they want my money.

The Art of Assembly Language
The Art of Assembly Language

2.0 out of 5 stars Learn HLA Before ASM?, 10 Dec 2006
I was disappointed when i got this book and i'm now trying to think of a way to pass it on. Basically this entire book is written from a standpoint of teaching assembly by using High Level Assembly Language (HLA). It's kind of like learning Portuguese to facilitate learning Spanish! Why would i want to learn (yet) another language in order to learn the original language i bought the book for? It would of been better had the author taught assembly alone by using the Netwide Assembler (NASM).
