Bought as a Christmas present. Didn't read it myself, but the person I bought it for found it amusing and apt, as he has just taken possession of a shed...

by Russell Plummer
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book for boat history enthusiasts, 12 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book was bought as a Christmas present for my brother-in-law, who is interested in old boats and the Dunkirk rescue mission. He has reported back that it is excellent, full of detail on the little ships, and just what he wanted. What more can I say?

4.0 out of 5 stars An unusually comprehensible account of the 2nd World War, 12 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Second World War (Hardcover)
This is a book which made sense of this worldwide conflict for me in a way which few other books or historians have managed to do. Without being dry and indigestible, it is a comprehensive account of the whole sorry business of the war, and it is written in a way that engages the lay reader without 'dumbing down'.
