1.0 out of 5 stars Same As It Ever Was - Tired Second Hand Sounds, 5 May 2009
This review is from: Preparations (Audio CD)
This is not very good, especially when compared to earlier releases by the artist. The problem is the production. To be honest, it sounds rushed, creatively there is not much there, the glitches and bleeps sound pointless and pretentious. Overall, it suffers from a lack of ideas and feels like it is going through the motions. I think Prefuse 73 (Scott Herren) as become a biter of himself, there are far better and interesting producers doing 'postmodern' hip hop - ad bourke, flying lotus, lukid, Harmonic 313, edIT and Lone to name a few.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 20 Feb. 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I got the Limited edition and it is good. I know it is an extra 30 quid on top of the game but you get the movie, which you can play on your xbox don't need HD drive, the exclusive downloadable content and figures. It is amazing that most people have reviewed it without having it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring and self indulgent poppycock, 30 July 2008
This review is from: Funny Games [DVD] (DVD)
First off this is a 'scene by scene' remake of the 1997 film of the same name. The premise of the film is that senseless and horrific violence equates to entertainment and lots of money within modern cinema and culture. The film is intended to be a critique of this by giving you a story centred on pointless violence with no plot other than to entertain you with the deprived acts. The problem is that the film is boring, the violence and torture is not that shocking at all (the camera pans away alot, which is a device so your imagination can create an horrific image, that is if you can be bothered because it seems contrived).

The only real torture is watching the film to the bitter end, which is painful to say the least. The director wants you to go and away and say things like ' that film was just violent for the sake of it and I am shocked!' or 'I can't believe I watched it and enjoyed the torture'. The film is rubbish it is contrived and makes no real impact on your views of film and violence. The actors do well with the script, hence one star but the would be torturers couldn't fight their way out of a paperbag, which makes it look so unrealistic. The bottom line is, the films thinks it is clever and is making point about modern cinema but the truth is the only thing the film is self-indulgent poppycock.
