Very different..., 10 Jun 2003
This innovative manga almost veers towards pop art in style and that's not the only stretching feature of the typical manga boundaries. Whilst most shoujo manga is typically magical/romantic/comedy, 'Paradise Kiss' is about fashion. A studious girl named Yukari has one aim in life - to make her parents happy by doing hard work at school and getting into a good college. But then she is kidnapped by a fashion group going by the name of Paradise Kiss and is thrown into the fast paced world of fashion, where she undergoes a drastic transformation into a glamourous model. Read this book if you're a manga fanatic or just want something different. You won't regret it.

Astounding!, 26 May 2003
I bought Sophie's World to read on holiday, and I think I saw more of the book than I did of the country I was visiting! It is a brilliant insight to the world of philosophy and I couldn't put it down until I'd finished. Not only does it give a brief explaination of almost every theory in the history of philosophy but also conveys a beautiful and reflective story in doing so. Readers should not be put off by the fact that the book is translated, as the language has lost none of its magic. I recommend this book to anyone who wants something to get stuck into, whether they have an interest in finding out more about philosophy or just want a brilliant book to read.

Beautiful!, 12 Dec 2000
As a young child, this was one of my favourite books. It is a book many children adore, mainly because of the breathtaking illustrations. The drawings have a magical feel to them, and they draw you right into the story. For a young children's book, it has a strong storyline, and children admire the kitten's incredible courage as he risks death to right his wrong, and the final truth at the end of the book is breathtaking, for children and adults alike. A thoroughly enjoyable book children will never want to end.

A unique story of courage, 12 Dec 2000
The highly emotional story of Corrie ten Boom is told beautifully in her book, The Hiding Place. It is, in a word, unique. Her courage shows throughout the story, of how her trust in her sister and her belief that God loved her kept her sustained throughout the horrors of a concentration camp during the Second World War, sent there because she did what she thought was right. She risked everything to protect Jews from the Nazis, because Jesus was a Jew; and this is a quality I have never heard of in such a strong sense before. Every moment of the story held me in amazement, as I gradually realised the true meaning of being a prisoner and Corrie's survival a struggle all the way, in a battle of her emotions and her sister's beliefs of forgiveness to everyone who did wrong. The most striking thing for me, however, was no matter what happened, the sisters thanked God, and their prayers were always answered. A remarkable book, telling the story of a remarkable woman.
