Very funny. Genuine laugh out loud funny at times, while some of the jokes miss some are great. Ryan Reynolds puts in his greatest ever performance even though he is uncredited (do not buy this on the basis of wanting to see Mr Reynolds, if you do and get upset this was never the DVD for you anyway). Worth buying just to see Neil Patrick Harris trying to steal someones hat.

Much better than expected. I had a brief phase buying little known fantasy films and most of them were truly dreadful. This is more of a guilty pleasure on the lines of having bewitched on your i pod. The Orc character is actually quite interesting and if a sequel ever gets made (stupendously unlikely) I would buy it.

Should really be 1 star but its so hilariously awful I enjoyed it in a watching someone get hit in the balls sort of way. Only film I have seen to rival Sharknado. The lead actor is actually quite good but even he couldnt deliver the odd line without starting to giggle. How this film got made I really do not know. The final, poignant exchange made me laugh so hard it hurt.

The Wurms of Blearmouth: A Malazan Tale of Bauchelain and Korbal Broach (The Malazan Book of the Fallen)

Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Still a good story, make that short story, 19 Sep 2014

Another Erikson story of powers concentrating in one place. Its got to the stage where you know the more shabby and downtrodden someone appears the more likely they are to be the most powerful being around. Still a good story, make that short story. Im sure Erikson has a few other tales he has decided not to turn into full novels, putting 4-5 of them together with this would have made a brilliant collection that I would expect every Erikson fan to buy.

One of the best yet. The mix of ordinary, content domesticity conflicted with the violence, lies and betrayals of the gang life along with more depth to the characters made this the most moving of the seasons. The characters dont seem to act out of character, there are no random actions to move the story on that clash with what you would expect from the characters. Some of the acting is very good, you can see what Gemma, Jacks and Tara are thinking without it needing to be spelled out. A mix of the blatant and the subtle that I like.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, 13 Jun 2014

Original Gothic games were fairly free world where you did what you wanted and ducked in and out of the storyline as you felt like. This however is utterly restrictive, moronic and a straight line throughout, or as far as I could stand anyway. Arbitary no go areas, blocking npcs etc ensure you never stray from the exact experience every other person playing the game has had made me sad. Just awful.

This is the last ever game which is also console available I ever buy. As a PC user I have learnt the game producers consider console users either to be universally retarded or the consoles technology allow no depth/complexity/freedom.

Dragon Age was wrecked by console friendly versions and the same happened here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Series brilliant 5*, 21 Feb 2014

Reading the low reviews of this they seem due to packaging or technical problems with blue ray.

The actual series is superb, dont be put off getting the standard version because of problems with packaging on the special edition or whatever. If people were rating the actual series it would be 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Rework of Arthurian Legend, 21 Dec 2013

This review is from: The Red Knight (Paperback)
Really enjoyed this.

A fantasy setting based on the never never land of King Arthurs pseudo medieval Britain.

Took me a while to recognise what it was despite it being very plain ie the Knight Gawin (Gawain), the incest bred bastard son the king the Red Knight (Mordred), the greatest Knight in the world Jean de'Vrailly (Lancelot), even Lancelots cousin Gaston (Bors), plus many more. Would like to see more of the red knights mother and kings sister, the Sorceress Morgana the Fey.

Could be cliched after Cornwalls enjoyable arthurian revisit but a very different take on it all. Similarities with Erickson are also clear.

Despite the familarity of the legend it is so altered that cannot predict what will happen. I also like that Mordred, at least for now, is back to being Heroic which he was in the early Arthurian legends before the French reworking to make Lancelot the Hero, which meant others had to be demoted/made evil.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different Spin, 24 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Grimm - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)
Entertaining spin on the monster hunters genre.

Pretty much the bastard child of Buffy and the Winchester brothers.

Basic idea is monsters exist around us but we cant see their true forms apart from the Grimm family descendants.

Worth watching but not a classic.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Album, 20 Nov 2012

Good album but the version of Justified and ancient is the downbeat lame one with the male vocalist which I was pretty pissed off with. The humour and sheer silliness of the Tammy Wynette version is gone leaving a bizarre and pretentious song rather than silly and hilarious one. Maybe I am missing some deep meaning but I always thought the song was a ironic two fingered salute to the music industry mainstream rather than an artistic masterpiece. Moo Moo.
