5.0 out of 5 stars The Message - but it!, 29 Mar 2008
The Message is a paraphrase in modern mid-atlantic English with American spellings which won't be to everyone's taste. I find that The Message though helps me understand for example some of the intricacies of Paul's language in his letters and the concepts outlined in the more elegant English of the NIV. It also helps with explaining at grass roots level say in a sermon given to a wide audience. i started reading odd bits a year ago as it was recommended by my Vicar. I used to read bits off the Biblegateway website which was good but there is a limit to what one can read on screen. however this is useful to see the difference and see if you like the style.

I would highly recommend buying this book.

As the commentator above says the large print makes the text easier to read for those like me who are too mean to buy varifocals.

5.0 out of 5 stars ATMT LITE MP130BK 256MB MP3 Player - Black, 28 Dec 2005
Just received this as a Christmas present. Can't put it down. Great sound and reasonable in ear headphones for something which is so reasonably priced. Very easy to use and versatile, even though the very comprehensive instruction manual is a bit over complicated. I can get about 60 songs on this without leaving space for voice recording.
Ideal for the person who doesn't want to go into flashy iPod territory.
Get one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Large Print version, 10 July 2005
This review is from: The Holy Bible TNIV (Hardcover)
The TNIV is a modernised version of the well known NIV. It goes a little further and replaces old fashioned words such as "with child" to "pregnant" etc which is how we speak today. See reviews of the TNIV standard version.
I really like the large print which is 16pt, due to my shortsightedness and being on the cusp of having to get varifocal lenses. If your reading vision isn't quite what it used to be and the days of being able to cope with pocket versions are long gone, then this is the Bible for you. This Bible isn't much larger to carry around than the standard versions (24h x 16w x 4.5d cm) with 2202 pages in all. The pages are completely given over to the Bible text only, so there are no introductions, annotations, cross-references, maps, drawings etc. as would appear in a study version. Its just what it says 'on the tin', which is perfect for me.
The publishers, Hodder & Staughton were very helpful with my recent queries and can they send you a leaflet about this version on request by emailing them through their website.
