This is not my usual reading matter, but I felt the need to offer praise. It is a beautiful story, and shows the existence of courage and compassion in the presence of unspeakable cruelty. The author tells it simply and with passion, and I for one am moved.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Book, 28 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was one of those books that reached out to me. As a lifelong dreamer and recorder of my dreams, I found that the author's account deepened my own understanding of many of my own dreams, and restored my realization of the importance of the dream as a link to the ultimate source. The author has been influenced by Laurens van der Post, Rene Schwaller de Lubicz and Charles Muses, amongst others. But most of all by the sacred content of his own dreams. Just reading it now for the second time. If you feel drawn to this book, read it. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Resource, 8 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For those wishing to use the Tarot de Marseille rather than more modern decks that have illustrated pips, there are less resources available. This book is one of those that helps to fill this gap. Plenty of well-organised background material and practical guidance. The book is illustrated with the author's own CBD deck.

The Path of a Kabbalist: An Autobiography
The Path of a Kabbalist: An Autobiography

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fascinating Memoir, 26 Feb. 2011
Z'ev ben Shimon Halevi (Warren Kenton) was the first author on the Kabbalah that I discovered, back in the 1970s. His work is easily accessible to those outside the Jewish Tradition, and I for one have found his approach helpful. I would recommend this book as useful to those who may have studied any of his books, and also for its more personal reflections upon the significance of events in the writer's life as they relate to the Tradition he transmits.

5.0 out of 5 stars A compelling read, 3 Feb. 2007
This is the second of a projected series of five novels and a sequel to 'The Magus of Stonewylde'. They chronicle the developments in an isolated community whose life revolves around the natural cycle of the year and the traditional festivals associated with this.

If you enjoyed `The Magus of Stonewylde', you will enjoy this book, which develops the characters further as they act out the archetypal patterns of this cycle in their own personal lives. There is wisdom here, and also a very compelling story, which will draw you in regardless of whether you are aware of the Pagan aspects of the cycle of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting new novel with Pagan wisdom theme, 13 July 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a novel that can be read on different levels. It is a coming of age story, and also a love story, and it captures the instability at the root of modern social life. But as the characters are invited to join and then drawn into an isolated community based upon pagan customs and traditions, we are introduced to new characters who assume archetypal roles drawn from the Celtic cycle of the seasons, including the Summer and Winter Kings. The heroine Sylvie herself assumes such a role, and through the plot we are able to see how human life can straddle two realities. The characters experience the intensification of life that this brings, and a compulsive plot develops that will leave you wanting to accompany the characters further. I look forward to the release of further volumes in the series.
