4.0 out of 5 stars Young girls favourite balloons PInk of course, 28 Nov 2012

Girls seem to want pink models whether dogs, cats or swans. Quality like "traditional". Stay inflated, few holes and not inclined to burst.

The quality of these balloons is not as good as "traditional". They are thin, some tend to pop. and they are odd colours.

Does what it says on the packet. Don't burst unexpectedly. Balloons with holes very rare. Only deflate slowly ie after they have gone home.

My definition of science fiction is earth exists. Here it does and we have a story with a legal crisis set in the US space navy. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Living Under Grace: Romans 6: 1-7: 25 (Preaching Through Romans)

5.0 out of 5 stars God's Fabulous Grace, 14 Jan 2012
I first read this book after hearing Michael Eaton speak at Stoneleigh. It is an amazing book simply written. Michael writes for people whose second language is English. The chapters are short, which makes the book ideal as a daily study. Coming from a church background where Terry Virgo's teaching on grace is a byword, I love the thorough, careful handling of scripture and the way the truths are brought to light and application. His handling of Ro 7 is exceptional. I thought that passage difficult to understand.

My conclusion if I could only have one book alongside the bible this would probably be one of my first choices.

3.0 out of 5 stars Makes you sleep, 16 Aug 2010
I did not find this as good as previous books. Slow start almost put me to sleep never mind dreams. The close improves. Will not read again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Science excellent- woolly characters, 16 Aug 2010
This review is from: Flood (Paperback)
This, like most of Baxter's novel, has superb science. It is based on the earth flooding entirely and three projects to save a few of humankind. This covers primarily one project an ocean liner. The book jerks along and one is not always sure when or where you are. The down side as with all baxters books is the appalling characterisation. To say they are woolly is a huge compliment. He really needs to get some help, from Bova perhaps. If like me you prefer earh universe based stories rather than fantansy, it is worth one read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zoe is a real charecter; one to enjoy., 16 Aug 2010
This review is from: Zoe's Tale (Paperback)
One of Scalzi's best. Happily it is not all soldiers and wars. Zoe is a real charecter; one to enjoy. I will probably read it again. That is how I define 5 stars. This book which looks at Scalzi's previous novel from Zoe's perspective. Zoe is John and Jane's (the heros of Last Colony) adopted daughter. It really opens your eyes to how much isn't written down in lots of novels. Read The Last colony first then this.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an extraordinary thriller!, 4 Mar 2008
An exceptional novel by Joshua Raven, entitled 5Finger Initiation This thrilling novel starts by Rachel Race having her little finger cut off. The fast paced introduction explores the other areas of her life where she is a victim, dead mum, drunken dad, and departing best friend. Rachel pluckily fights to carry on. We also see the tentative start to a romance with Lake, a trainee journalist. While all this is happening we are exposed to flashes the agents of good, Caleb, and evil. These really get you demanding of yourself what is going on? The astonishing answers bit by nail-biting bit appear. The climax of the introduction is a horrendous encounter with a black panther. It can stop you sleeping!! A brick with a note starts the rest of the story. There are lots of different adventures. We see Rachel being threatened if she does not complete dastardly assignments. The romance with Luke blossoms. Caleb exposes the agents of evil as victims too. Gradually the real villain and the astonishing hero are revealed. To find out about that read on.... A thumping good read. I can't wait for the next in the 5Finger series. Joshua Raven, please hurry.
