Yet to fit it to see how the 3M pad sticks but it looks really good, will all the KES items having the same finish, sort of brushed/polished stainless steel. Very modern looking.

This book is great hard ScFi. The level of research, background and knowledge is immense. The pace is phenomenal. It reads like some of the best of the 1950’s golden age ScFi, a really gripping story that is entirely believable.
Yes, there are weaknesses in the writing style and the 1st person NASA logbook would never include most of what is being told to the reader. The characterisation is a bit light and the main character is a bit too superhuman. However overall a great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good example of Cyber Sci-Fi, 23 Feb. 2014

Gave it 4 stars rather than 5 because I did not feel it entirely tied up all the loose ends. But very enjoyable anyway

The End of Winter: A Crime Thriller
Price: £2.32

5.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected but very good, 23 Feb. 2014
It is not really a crime novel, more an investigation of life. It is well written, well edited and very enjoyable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Awful pronunciation, 26 Oct. 2013

The satnav seems to work OK. Not as good as Tom-Tom because does things like tell you to turn now even though there is 100m and two turns still to go. But my real hate is the voice commands giving names of streets etc. It is bad in English, but on French roads you have to turn off the sound and on Dutch roads stop laughing and pull over before hitting something. What is the point of providing voice information if is so incomprehensible that it is unusable. You sell these items outside the UK, hopefully they come with different language sets, or someone may think this is how English is pronounced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better book than film, 22 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
OK, it is not entirely believable and the ending is predictable, but in between it is taut well written and interesting. Everything you want in an easy read. Keeps you reading from front to back and the main characters have depth. Excellent book. Like that it is based in Italy and Gozo, with totally different Quality of Life values for each location. Because of this it drip feeds the moral values of the book out of the characters from each location, rather than ever appearing moralising.

Déjà Vu (The Saskia Brandt Series Book One)
Déjà Vu (The Saskia Brandt Series Book One)

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting twists and turns, 1 Nov. 2012
At the start I wondered if a detective story set in the near future was really Science Fiction, but it isn't a detective story or based in the near future. It is a really clever Science Fiction story with style and expertise. Well worth the read, leaving many subject uncompleted, but equally answered just enough to have you smiling at the end. Very enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great, 19 Oct. 2012

The problem I have with this series is that it has already lost crisp plot lines. There are just too many different strands occurring in the background to the book. OK the story stays with the main characters most of the time, but there are all sorts of galaxy changing events in the background that just get in the way. It is rather the antithesis of Larry Niven and Known Space - where each story was really interesting until he started trying to make them all fit together. With Spinward Fringe the main story hangs together but there does not seem to be any point to some of the sub-stories which could be more interesting than the main plot. All in all a good read, just too many technology updates, new enemies and sub stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story with some substance, 7 Oct. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Turing Evolved (Kindle Edition)
At the start of the book the characters appear slightly abstract and ill defined, but as the story progresses it picks up speed and depth. I am not entirely convinced by all the base premises, the idea of fairly theoretical ethics standing in the way of states developing weapon systems is not entirely believable. But the story adds additional information in a logical and interesting manner to keep you reading all the way through.
