5.0 out of 5 stars The finest collection if tracks from the world's most under-rated band., 26 Jan 2008
This review is from: Plagues (Audio CD)
This review could be seen as slightly biased because I have been a huge TDWP fan for ages but this record needs to be noticed.
'The Devil Wears Prada', a Christian Metalcore/Deathcore band from Dayton, Ohio are the way this genre of music intended to be.
Their debut album, 'Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord' was fantastic and a essential purchase for any fan but 'Plagues' is just one step futher ahead.
With better recording and vocals, TDWP have created a masterpiece.
'Plagues' is the most solid album I have listened to in a long time. Every track bears a new tale with shredding riffs and the skin-peeling growls and squeals from frontman Mike Hrainca.
My personal favourite tracks on 'Plagues' are probably:
'Hey John, What's Your Name Again?',
'Reptar; King Of The Ozone',
'HTML Rulez Do0d' and
'Number Three, Never Forget' but all the tracks are brilliant anyway.
I find it so frustrating how under-rated TDWP are, most people just think you're talking about a book or a film when you discuss this band.
I'm fed up of it, they need to be recognised in the UK aswell as the States.
Also, a UK tour from the boys would be lovely too :)
But yes, this album is a grand achievment and I advise all to buy if this sort of music is your cup of tea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning. Interesting. Beautifully Crafted., 9 Jan 2008
'Miami Ink' is by far the finest thing on television of recent times.
It's not just a documentary show but a way of life. I have always had an interest in tattoos and body modification and this show has futhered my interests. This is a show for everyone, it appeals to a wide audience and you don't have to have tattoos to enjoy or relate to the show.
The artists are incredibly talented and their work and carisma shows their passions for their job.
With such artists as Chris Garver and Kat Von D, you know your in safe hands.
This programme is fantastic and I advise all to invest in the boxsets of it.
Check out LA Ink and London Ink on Discovery Real Time too, they are just a fabulous as this little gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Remarkable Boxset. A Great Price. Grand Entertainment., 5 Nov 2007
Danny Ocean & his crew of crooks have taken us on three adventures exploring deep into their hiests and amusing criminal behaviour, now you can own all three together with an extra bonus disc for 23.
Not a bad price for a boxset with a movie realesed today (Mon 5th November) with most retail outlets selling it at 15 is it?

These films are an esstential to anyone's DVD collection and are great films to watch with friends, family, partners and anyone who enjoys a good laugh and a star-studded cast, because let's face it, Clooney, Damon and Pitt, it's bound to be worth watching.

'Ocean's Eleven & Thirteen' are just brilliant. They are amusing, fun and just a pleasure to watch.
'Ocean's Twelve' is definatly the weaker of the three, however the other two films and the bonus disc make up for it, making this one of the coolest boxset released in the past few weeks.
A great boxset for all to enjoy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Atrocious. Not Even Worth Picking Up To Look At The Box., 29 Oct 2007
'Halloween' is fantastic. It is a creative, beautiful and just tremendous 'Slasher Film' that John Carpenter crafted with excellence.
'Halloween: Resurrection' however, is just rubbish.
It's just a general waste of time.
Busta Rhymes? No thanks.
Jamie Lee Curtis? Yes please but lay off these diabolical sequals for your career's sake.

'Halloween: Resurrection' tells the tale of a group of teens who decide to stay over night at the Myer's family home, where the horrific murders of the original film take place, as part of a reality television sitcom about notorious murderers.
You can probably already tell it's going to be bad by the fact it's about a reality television show which lets face it, are the most pointless, mind-numbingly boring and just worthless television shows ever to be thought up of. Why in God's name would you want to sit and watch people doing exactly the same as you? It's just stupid.

This film has cursed the 'Halloween' franchise and I seriously do not recommend this film to anyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Chucky Wasn't Lucky., 29 Oct 2007
This review is from: Seed of Chucky [DVD] (DVD)
'Seed Of Chucky' as a piece of cinema isn't that bad being totally honest but compared to the original, 'Child's Play', things have just tragically gone down-hill for Charles Lee Ray.
You know a film isn't going to be anything special when the actors are replaced by rappers and ex-popstars.
A prime example of this is 'Halloween: Resurrection' which had Busta Rhymes as a main character alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, it just didn't work.
The 'Child's Play' franchise have become increasingly worse down the line, especially when the writers decided to change the film from a 'Horror' to almost a 'Black Comedy'.
Don't get me wrong, Chucky's character hasn't changed that much which is good but the stories and situations he is placed in are just terrible.

'Seed Of Chucky' had the potential of being a good film but I feel that the writers just got overly carried away with this stupid comedy side of Chucky.
Since when has a serial killer been funny? I know the things he says are funny and that's okay because that's part of his character but the fact that every single death, problem, situation, basically every line spoken has a punchline is just ridiculous.
Everybody knows that sequals generally aren't as good as the original but this film is just pathetic.

Sorry Chucky, I liked your old films but you have lost the plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buckets Of Blood. Tons Of Torture. An Epic Boxset., 29 Oct 2007
As a film reviewer, I've never really understood why so many people hate the 'Hostel' franchise. I can understand that people may find it disturbing and that it is very twisted in many ways but I can't get my head around why they are 'bad' films?

They are great films in my opnion, you know you are watching a good film when you feel shudders run down your spine, you know your watching a good film when you look around every corner to see if someone's there, you know you are watching a good film when you feel so involved in the film's element and you can't escape from it, that is what these films do fantastically.
Eli Roth has totally redeemed himself with these two diamonds after his first motion picture, 'Cabin Fever' which was without a doubt, the poorest and most terrible excuse of a 'Teen Horror' I think I have ever seen.

These two films are an essential to anyone's DVD collection and this boxset is a fantastic price. These are two ideal films to watch over this Halloween period.

Before you start thinking that I believe hours of mindless violence makes a film good(which it doesn't on any terms), if you haven't seen either of the 'Hostel' films, watch them and see for yourself.
They are an acquired in all respect but they are thoroughly enjoyable and take a step away from violence in reality for a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Deeply Shocking 90 Minutes. Just Fantastic., 29 Oct 2007
This review is from: The Bridge [2005] [DVD] (DVD)
Before I review this film, I want to make it aware that this is not an enjoyable film & it's not ideal to watch if your squemish or easily upset.

This is by far one of the most moving films I have ever watched.
I don't want to write about what happens in this film because it's fairly obvious if you read the other reviews that it is about the rate of suicides performed on the Golden Gate Bridge.
What I do want to write about though is how this film is just fascinating.
Director Eric Steel has performed a documentary wonder here.
He has crafted some fine cinematography & has portrayed a great outlook on modern-day camera work. This film is filmed like no other real-life documentary.
The fact that the viewer is actually exposed to watching sereval people take their own lives for real is mind-blowing. It is a huge shock to the viewer because you are never really aware when it is going to happen.

I think the main reason why I found this film so remarkable is because it just shows you how horrible death really is & it shows how Hollywood just glamourise the fact of death to be honest.

I recommend this film to people who aren't easily upset or offended by what they see because as I said before, this isn't an entertaining piece of film, this is a deeply moving, frustrating and haunting collection of real-life footage.

View with caution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hollywood Eat Your Heart Out. Korea Know How To Make A Creature Feature., 26 Oct 2007
'The Host' is just outstanding in every single way.
It rolls horror and comedy into one making a perfect mix for two hours entertainment.
The storyline is fantastic and for those who don't take their films too seriously, this is a must.
The story is based around a father called Gang-Du, desperate to save his daughter Hyun-Seo from the terrible monster holding her captive in a sewer under Wonhyo Bridge with the aid of his sister, a professional archer called Nam-Joo and his father, Hee-Bong, the owner of a local snack van.
This is a wonderful film, packed with fantastic CGI and a cast that you will fall in love with. This is an epic horror film that many could view and enjoy without being too scared and not having to take anything seriously for 2 hours.
This is a great film and yet again, it's not from Britian or America.
The best in cinema lies within Foreign countries without a doubt.
A grand achievement for Korea.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful. Why Do All Great Films Get Spoilt?, 26 Oct 2007
'Saw 3' is without a doubt, one of the worst sequals I have ever watched.

'Saw' is a total masterpiece, a film of horrific beauty filled with twists and turns that leave you thinking after the films over and some fanatasic cinematography which really leaves a chill in the air.
'Saw 2' is a pretty good film too being honest, it's enjoyable, cleaver and shocking in places.
So why did Lionsgate have to make a third? And the fourth is out next week too. Brilliant.
'Saw 3' has no story, no twists and characters you couldn't care less about.
This has completley ruined the 'Saw' franchise and now it has made me not want to see the forth.
Why didn't they stop after 'Saw 2'?

2.0 out of 5 stars Completely Over-Rated., 26 Oct 2007
I hate writing negative reviews about films but I think people who haven't seen this film should be aware that it's not all it's cracked up to be.
The film's title is genius; 'Borat: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan', it could not be funnier but the actual film lacks the same charm.

I only found a few moments in the film funny for starters, I felt like it had been on for about 2 hours after 25 minutes and the story is terrible.

Don't get me wrong, Sacha Baron Cohen is a fantastic actor, he is great as 'Ali G' and I'm sure he will be wondeful in the re-make of 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street', but this film is a real let-down.

Many people say that this film is better than 'Ali G Indahouse', I somehow don't agree. 'Ali G Indahouse' is brilliant and hilarious the whole way through.
'Borat' is probably worth a rent if your incredibly bored but I seriously would not buy it. Spend your 5/6 on a film that's epic like 'The Shawshank Redemption' or 'A Clockwork Orange'
'Borat' has it's moments but ultimately, it's just rubbish.
