The author's idea of using Amazon primarily to sell his screenplay is unusual, perhaps unique, but after reading his book one must wish him success. It is an imaginative and exciting tale that keeps the pages turning and will certainly, if his plan succeeds, fill the theatre seats. Buy it.

Forget that it's masquerading as a novel. Treat it as a carefully composed warning of the dangers created by silly politicians in the UK, and ignorant politicians in the EU. The book should be compulsory reading for all who intend to vote in the Referendum and plan to vote at the next Election.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb! English traditional wit reborn., 5 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's easy to describe this view of English life as hilarious, even easier to classify it as brilliant, and then to move on to whatever else is demanding rarely free time. But the gift of so much pleasure earns a few moments and a short comment. Katie Barron is a newcomer to a distinguished line of British humorists, the best of whom commanded the nineteen-thirties and included Wodehouse, Jenkins, Coward, Herbert, echoes of whose gentle, aristocratic, teasing wit may be found here. This does not mean that the author has copied any styles from the greats of eighty years ago, but I do believe that her reading of their works has shaped the individual voice she appears to have made uniquely her own. What else can one say? Oh, yes, a question: When may we expect the next?

1.0 out of 5 stars Amazon shames its name, 2 Jun. 2014
The review of B. Smith asks -- "Do people realise how damaging this book is to the credibility of all the Servicemen who served during the troubled period from 1969 to 1994?"

I ask if Amazon realises what the inclusion of this book in an emailed newsletter urging me to buy it does to Amazon's credibility.

The system forces reviewers to award at least one star, but the one I award here is intended to signify minus 5 stars.
