1.0 out of 5 stars Well it was rated by critics as one of the worst film sequels ever, 8 April 2010
This review is from: Ocean's Twelve [DVD] [2004] (DVD)
Quite frankly this is the ugly ducking out of the three modern ocean films. Its so awful. It has a promising start but then it just gets worse. Just so so so much worse. OK, so the initial plot is to pay back the money stolen from the first film to Terry the casino owner, fair enough but then the plot just becomes so fragmented and quite frankly boring that its hard to watch. In some scenes the action is quite good, like the dancing sequence the fox uses in order to get through the alarm lasers near the end of the film but apart from that this film makes for poor viewing. Oceans 11 and Oceans 13 are much much better. I suppose its worth watching once but then never to watch again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dont take it seriously, 20 Mar 2010
This film is a good film to watch on a saturday evening with a few beers. I see there have been alot of negative reviews made about it but the truth is its a film not to take seriously. Yes some of the acting is a bit static and some of the jokes we have seen before but who cares? Its a fun story which im sure we can all relate too. Its not comedy genius but it is a small outstanding gem in the treasure chest of comedy films that are out there. Definitly worth a watch but for others who take film a little more seriously probably not a good idea.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fun for about ten minutes, 2 Dec 2007
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
If you are thinking about buying this console because it looks like a great laugh then you are right for thinking that. Sure you have seen the adverts with a bunch of mates all playing on nintendos latest offering all having a great fun time but seriously its not as good as you think. After playing on my cousins machine i was glad that i bought a ps3 last march when they first came out and not a nintendo wii. The novelty of the wii lasts for roughly about ten mins, then when you have played it and seen what all the fuss is about you move on. Now for younger children, and i mean aged 10 and below this clearly is a great peice of kit but for the more mature 12+ your best sticking to a ps3 or an xbox360. Why? Simply because you get more for your money. The ps3 at the moment is standing at 300-350 pounds and not only is it the most powerful games console on the planet it also is the worlds cheapest blu ray player and a good one at that. My opinion is i would pay the extra 50-100 pounds for something like that since the wii is retailing at roughly 250 in the uk at the moment. In summary the wii is great for kids, but for the serious and mature gamer, just a waste of money

4.0 out of 5 stars What we have all been waiting for on the PS3, 10 Nov 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
The ps3 has had virtually no outstanding fps games since its release, ok resistance fall of man was good but it left me wanting more and i suggest other players wanting more. The xbox360 has had some fantastic shooters such as perfect dark and fear not to mention bioshock which arguably is the best fps of 2007. Its time for the ps3 to have an outstanding fps and this was delivered in the form of call of duty 4. Although it is a cross console release ps3 owners have been waiting for a game like this to be released on the console. The sound is great, the graphics are fantastic (although not quite as good as bioshock). What grabbed me by the balls was the AC130 mission "death from above" were you are the gunner from a AC-130 gunship! That was probably the best mission for me with the chernobyl mission comming in a close second. The chernobyl mission i mean were by you and a fellow assassin have to navigate through the ukraine village of prypiat, a deserted small town near the chernobyl power plant abandoned in 1986. The only reason why this game isnt a 5 star effort in my opinion is because it is too short in single player, im not into the multiplayer modes at all but still a great buy and defitinly competition for bioshock!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! What we have all been waiting for!, 4 Sep 2007

This review is from: Bioshock (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Being a playstation fan boy really i got an xbox360 at xmas 2006 just because i had sum spare cash lying around and then i got my ps3 in march 2007 like everybody else who had one pre ordered for about 3 years. Anyway, i have to say this game is better than anything that is out for the ps3 AT THE MOMENT! I am an avid first person shoot em up fan and i dont play really any other type of game, 95% of my entire game collection is FPS oreintated. I can clearly say we have not seen anything like this before. Yes you can all argue that if we wanted to see a dystopian world we could all go and play half life 2 or even the original red faction games but i dont think really this type of game or the setting itself has been attempted before. The game is set in an art deco 1940's style city built by an avid industrialist at the bottom of the atlantic ocean! You can not beat that! Were have we seen anything like this before? There was a similar setting in one of the missions, or two rather in timesplitters future perfect but nothing comes close to this. The detail of the surroundings and the mind blowing setting is protrayed and displayed wonderfully in this game and i can not fault anything with it. I have had it for almost a week now and have completed it twice and the game is better the second time around. You can really explore for hours the settings of each of the 8 parts of rapture (the cities name) and still be mind boggled at the sheers scale and depth of this adventutre. I really can not stress how deep this game is, you really have to play it and 40 pounds is actually an underprice. As far as the gamplay itself goes i can not fault that either. There are times in the game were your hairs will stand up on end because you become so engrossed and absorbed into it. For example, in fort frolic (a part of rapture) i went into a cellar to explore a safe, there was a mannequin sitting on a chair in the corner of the room facing the wall, when i explored the safe in the opposite side of the room i turned around and there it was standing infront of me waiting to hack me to peices! The shadow, lighting and most importantly water affects of this game really give it an edge of more realism. There will be times were you will be so scared you really dont want to turn around to see what might be behind you, there will be times were you will laugh, there will be times were you will be stunned and there will be times were you cry or feel emotionally drained. It is impossible to articulate the different sensations this game will impose upon you. My advice is, buy it, explore the different parts of rapture when completing your objectives because that i feel is the most important part of the game and basically what you are paying for. There is a considerable amount of action in it but it is not to be confused with other shooters such as doom 3 or killzone or perfect dark, you could call it the final fantasy of FPS, and i dont joke about that either. This is a game that clearly sony has to worry about because if this is what we can expect in more quantity from the xbox, the ps3 has a fight on its hands. However in defence of the ps3, the ps3 is a system that has yet to come out of its shell yet with other titles expected such as turok, blacksite area 51, killone 2 and probably metal gear solid 4, yes ok even if it is a 3rd person shoot em up. Buy this game, play it, sorry let me re-phrase, LIVE IN IT as if u were in it. You wont be sorry, and i mean that. We have waited too long in my opinion for a game like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars PS3, a dark horse waiting to be unleashed, 29 Aug 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I have owned a PS3 since the day they came out in the uk, i had one on pre-order from a website for almost just over a year before the uk release date. Prior to the release of the ps3 in the uk i went out just after xmas 06 and bought myself an xbox 360 and i must admit i was impressed, i had a bit of cash lying around so i thought what the hell, might as well have 2 consoles since nobody can seem to make their mind up at which is the best. The 360 is good and its really good, when i got prefect dark i was totally addicted for about a week and the multiplayer really pushed my buttons simply because of the ability to talk to other people round the world while blowing them away at the same time. However when the ps3 came out i was impressed. I thought resistance was quite good and a very good teaser, only showing us a fraction of what we could expect from the ps3. Multimedia capabilities of the ps3 exceed that of the 360, the big thing for me was being able to place data cd's and memory cards from the pc into the ps3 and watch ur pictures, and vids and music on your HD television. Not to mention BLU RAY which is better then HD DVD for one very simple reason, HD DVD can fit 30gb on one disk, blue ray can manage 50gb on a single disk so obviously the disk which has the larger capacity will able to store the highest quality video and the largest amount of game data so the ps3 wins in that one. I have to say that the game selection for the ps3 is quite poor and that some of the big titles such as area51 blacksite are not going to be avaliable till september, october 2007 and killzone two not being avaliable till march 2008. However i remember that when the 360 was released people still had to wait 6 months or more till there was a wider selection of games. Many people have already buried the ps3 before it has even been given the chance to die yet and i would advise anyone thinking of buying a 360 instead of the ps3 to wait a couple of months because i guarantee you by january 2008 the ps3 will have definitly established a more prominant place for itself on the gaming market by then. Regarding which is the better console its far far to early to make a fair choice about that one. Even though the 360 has been out over a year its still too early to state which is the more powerful or better performing console. I dont think we will be able to answer that question until at least 2-3 years have passed. All i know is that sony do not plan to release another major console until 2014 so i think it is safe to say that they have made the ps3 to last.

Ok, i admit, i bought this because it wasnt a FPS for the 360 which cost an appauling 40 quid and i like FPS shooters but now for the serious stuff. I dont care what anyone else says this game is very scary. I have 5.1 surround sound in my room and a 32 inch HDTV and my god this game is scary, even more so than Doom 3. Were as doom 3 attempts to scare the bejeesus out of you by demons and zombies breaking out of walls or windows etc, FEAR plays mind games in the form of some troublesome little girl borrowed from the RING films. Its the fear of the unknown and anticipation that makes this game so scary. Even the mighty net enclyclopedia "wikipedia" states that FEAR has been known to leave gamers "emotionally drained". The gameplay is repetitive and sometimes you lust for a well lit fight scene as all the gameplay seems to centre around a dark atmosphere which does get boring sometimes. Just as in doom 3 the entire game seems to be played in the dark. Graphics are crisp and are superior to Quake 4 and Call of Duty 2 which is sad to say but regardless of its flaws its a solid shooter with a very gripping story. Horror is the defining element which makes this game what is, i believe the fighting, weapons etc are a second after thought. Not worth 40 pounds. I wouldnt pay more than 25 for this game. So give it a while till it comes down in price or buy it from another site

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny, navman have done it again, 24 Aug 2006
I initially had a navman icn510 which did the job but after a year i thought i had to upgrade the product since the new memory cards with new map data on were quite expensive. Enter the navman icn 550 with maps of all of europe and a traffic module. I must say that the unit itself is a little bulky but what it contains such as the 4gig hard drive and a memory card input, the latest gps reciever i you cant really complain. The traffic module is very useful although i must say setting it up in the car can be quite a pest but once it is up then its very good and i have not had any problems with it as of yet and ive had it for about 3 months now. I have an apartment in spain and i have used it to get me there, the mapping was excellent and the route was quite close to the route that i usually take so i cant fault it there.

I would seriously reccommend this product

5.0 out of 5 stars Bring out your dusty PS2 for the grand finale of its era, 26 Feb 2006
This review is from: Black (PS2) (Video Game)
Black truly is a game which will end the PS2's time on the planet in a grand spectacle. I pre-ordered the game a month in advance and it came on a friday and i completed it on saturday. Its THAT good you wont be able to stop playing it. As medal of honor was the game that ended the PS1's time black will end the PS2's time. Visually black is as stunning as Killzone and twice as addictive as goldeneye for the n64, to be honest it is better than goldeneye. The graphics look as if they belong on the next generation of consoles however EA have been able to achieve the great detail on the weapons by using many visual "cheats". For example when reloading your weapon, everything goes fuzzy apart from the gun you are reloading. Your enemies will not all be on the screen at once. When you have dispatched a few, more appear from out of nowere! This though in itself is not really a let down. Who cares if black does not have networked play? This allows the player to become totally immersed in the gameplay. If you are one of those players who hates using stealth tactics and prefers an all out gun fight then you will be elated with black. Everything you shoot at will dissappear before your eyes. The enemy AI is quite good aswell, and if you have 5.1 channel surround sound then the game becomes a whole lot better. The shootouts have been taken from hollywood films. Many a time will you need to shoot at objects such as cars, trucks, petrol containers etc to take out a group of enemies. However be careful were you take cover because this tactic works both ways. Black could do with being longer as i craved for more gun toting mayhem by the time i finished the game but without giving the stroyline away, it looks as if black is going to have a sequel. I completed the game in 6 and a half hours in normal mode which i did think was dissapointing but not dissaponting enough to totally shelve the game. In a nutshell, black is truly and excellent fps and totally addictive. The disc WILL remain in your ps2 for weeks and you WILL go back to play the harder and black ops modes to unlock all the features of the game. Buy it now!
