Mediocre form for Johnny and the kids, 29 Mar 2005
All in all this was enjoyable and moving, but not as great as I expected. Johnny Depp gives a performance that is similar to his role in Pirates of the Carribean - a bit more sad & serious here, but thankfully still plenty of clowning around - I think it was Winslet's rather winsome acting that let it down. God only knows why she was nominated for an Oscar.
Amazing sets and effects though, and beautifully shot throughout - I think this is one film that adults would probably enjoy more in the presence of children (just as Depp's JM Barrie decides his work is best appreciated in the closing scenes)
