Tomb of the Lost (Peter Dennis Book 1)
Tomb of the Lost (Peter Dennis Book 1)

2.0 out of 5 stars Not at all what I was hoping for, 13 Oct. 2014

I was not at all pleased with this book. From the title and description I was expecting a treasure hunt based thriller. The majority of the book is military fiction, the second part being an absurdly long story about soldiers during the second world war. I don't know if there's anything in that section relating to the actual plot of the search for Alexander the great's tomb as I eventually gave up trying to be interested in that section. The final part of the book struck me as rushed with bad characterization & little substance to the plot. Very disappointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A round of applause for Shelly Thacker, please., 22 Jun. 2014
This is a book that stands out from the rest. The budding romance and emotional roller-coaster ride you'd expect in a book like this is interwoven with action in the form of sword play, death defying chases and an intriguing story-line filled with suspense and a few good plot twists. This book could probably pass as a thriller, apart from some graphically intimate and well written romantic scenes.

It could be argued that the characters are a little cliched- naive rich girl and gruff, guarded hero- but its obvious from the go that both are far more complex.

Definitely not your average, run of the mill romance stories- exciting, moving and funny throughout.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique, entertaining short story, 4 May 2013

The plot and characters and their reactions are perhaps a little to fanciful in places, but apart from that a good read. A classic adventure/romance.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but could have been better, 9 Jan. 2010
I've just finished watching this movie and I must say, I found it very enjoyable.

The story has an interesting 'twist' from the very start, with the human race at first depicted as callous and ruthless alien invaders, before revealing there point of view as being desperate to find a new home for there dying race. From this point, it feels easy to understand the characters feelings as they are forced to decide between saving their people from destruction or taking the moral high ground.

It's an animation film, but that shouldn't make you think it's main focus is towards children. The whole thing is done so that the end result is a movie that's serious, and in some places, a little moving.

The animation itself is impressive to see. The floating motion of the creatures of Terra and the battle sequences are just beautiful.

Bad things about this film- the whole thing should be longer and more fleshed out, with a lot more focus on the development of the characters, in particular their relationships with other characters. In that sense, I think quite a bit was missed out from this movie that could have gone a long way for the story line.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good; very entertaining, 17 July 2009
This is the first we've seen of Warhammer audio books, and hoping there will be more to come. There are two reasons I have deducted a star for this item. Firstly, it's a little bit too short for my liking. I would have preffered it if the story went on a bit more. The second fault with this is that some parts aren't entirly clear to anyone who doesn't know all aspects of Warhammer 40k in detail. I didn't really know much about Space Marines when I listened to it, so I wasn't to sure on some parts. True, you can get the idea by the end, but if that's the case it's best to judge it on the second listen.
That's not to say this audio book isn't good. Quite the opposite, the story is intriguing and exciting, and one advantage of being a bit short is that it's to the point and draws you in quickly. Music and sound effects are used well to create atmosphere, and the plot fits in with the style of the WH paperbacks.
A very pleasing product, that once again goes to prove that 'In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future, There is Only War'.

5.0 out of 5 stars WH 40k fans, take notice!, 3 Feb. 2008
This book will appeal to all Warhammer 40,000 fans. Die hard fanatics will find this a vital addition to their Warhammer libary, while all the lesser fans will find plenty of infomation on the Imperial guard & it's enemies. A must have WH40K book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book? Masterpiece more like..., 20 Mar. 2007
An excellent book, with all the classic elements you'd expect to find in a fantasy adventure. Plot development and characterisation is flawless and the intelligence and imagination that has gone into the story is impressive to say the least.

Waiting impatiently for the next book.
