3.0 out of 5 stars Live TV on your tablet, 24 Jun. 2013

Very good in principle, and not a bad effort.
The first thing I will say is the name is a bit misleading I originally downloaded this app looking for a 'catchup' app i.e. an app that would allow me to watch TV that had already aired similar to 4od, iPlayer etc. but all in one app. However this app only shows live TV with similar channels to freeview. This can still be very useful, just not what I was expecting.
The app looks nice, with an easy to use, intuitive interface that makes it easy to see what's on currently and what is coming up next for all the channels.
However I found the streaming to be inconsistent regularly crashing out and forcing me back to the guide during a programme. Fix this and it would be a solid 4* app.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very basic resume, 15 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Resume Builder Pro (App)
The interface of this app is nice and clean and the builder 'wizard' is simple and easy to use.

However the resume you get from it is exceptionally basic, being essentially a list of items with the following headers: Contact info, Objective, Experience, Education, Skills and References. Using the above info you could create a resume similar to this app in 2 minutes. This basically means that no employer would look twice at the document created using this app you would have to put in a lot of time and effort changing it, which kind of defeats the point.

Overall, it's OK to use as a very basic template, however not very useful if, like most of the working world, you already have a CV/resume; and even if you don't have one, you can find better templates packaged with Word or by doing a 2 minute internet search.
I wouldn't buy it if it wasn't the app of the day, and it will now be removed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging, entertaining and informative - a cracking tale, 18 Feb. 2013

This review is from: Life Of Pi (Kindle Edition)
I would recommend this book to everyone, not just as an awesome, imaginative read, but also as a practical manual on a wide range of subjects from religion to zoo keeping to survival at sea.
The book has three main sections:
1. The first where the author (Yann Martel?) is setting the scene in India and later Canada where he meets the main character Pi Patel. In this section the author hears stories about Pi's childhood growing up in India and makes observations about his life and home during the visits to hear these stories. This sets the scene in helping the reader understand the protagonist and sympathise with him during the second section.
2. This next section is the bulk of the novel and sees Pi narrating his journey from India to Canada, the subsequent sinking of the freight ship 'Tsimtsum' that leaves him stranded in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger and all the trials and tribulations that come with it.
3. The final part of the story is fairly short and deals with his eventual return to civilisation and his recounting of the story to some investigators of the Tsimtsum sinking and their disbelief in the story told to them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing ground breaking, but some good advice, 18 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Some good advice contained in this short book, although nothing really new in it if you have read similar titles by other successful people, it goes go to show that these kinds of skills and traits probably do go a good way to helping you reach your goals.
This book is a little biased towards the female viewpoint, although I suppose that is the viewpoint she comes from and the viewpoint a lot of her readers will be wanting, there are still some great tips for anyone wanting to be their best.
Short enough to finish in a sitting a definitely worth a look.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very basic information, 31 Dec. 2012

Lots of very basic information reiterated lots of times. This book gives much less information than a quick Google search and can be summarised in the following points:

1. Make sure it is what you want to do
2. Do well at school
3. Do well at college
4. Do well at flight school
5. Do well in j o b interviews and subsequent jobs
6. Apply to Virgin space program

Read the above and you can save yourself the time and money with this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good fun, 27 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots (App)
This is the first taste of fruit slicing action I have experienced and I have to say that it's really good fun. This version as the name suggests has some voice overs from Antonio Banderas' character and has 2 modes of play:
- The first is classic arcade where you slash as much fruit as you can.
- The second is a challenge mode where you have to complete a number of challenges in 5 levels in order to get the highest score you can.

Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots has really nice polished graphics, proven smooth addictive gameplay and decent audio to boot. If you haven't played a fruit ninja game before this is a good introduction to the franchise. I have docked 1 star for the lack of a story and therefore true replayability value.

I have the premium version of this app but for some reason I am only getting the free version. Lots of ads = very annoying. Additionally I lost my place in the game so have to start again which is more annoying.
Was ok otherwise.

5.0 out of 5 stars The single best puzzler on the mobile platform, 25 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Quell Reflect (App)
This game is one that will have you rattling your brains and put you in a state of complete calm at the same time.

The game play centres around swiping droplets of water around a maze to pick up pearls on each level. Once swiped, your droplet it will keep travelling in that direction until it hits a wall. You have to manoeuvre your drop around the different mazes and pick up all the pearls in as few a moves as possible. To do it in the minimum move is regularly harder than it seems and will really make you think, but it rarely becomes frustrating because of the innate calming nature of the game..
Whilst doing this you have to avoid pesky spikes and poisonous droplets that will burst your droplet (although sometimes you have more than one droplet and you have to sacrifice one - for the greater good), push blocks to allow access to new areas, pick up golden pearls that will remove certain blocks in your way and avoid getting stuck in a loop - when you swipe your droplet so that it will continue travelling and not hit a wall.

The music score is simple but devastatingly effective at creating the atmosphere of calm and relaxing game play.
The graphics and controls are both simply and beautifully done.

This game is truly a masterpiece of the puzzle genre and could even be more of a Zen aid than a game. It is one of the most polished games I've seen and easily one of the best games on the mobile platform.
