3.0 out of 5 stars Makes no difference, 21 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Much as I would like to believe in this product, I really don't think it has made any visible difference. There has been no appreciable difference in firmness or the appearance of lines.

The product has virtually no instructions besides the minute print on the box. Considering the price point this is a little surprising. The bottle design could be better as it can be tricky to control the pump action. Once false squirt and a fivers' worth of serum is lost.

Although the product feels nice quality it doesn't really seem to do anything, so I won't be getting more.

5.0 out of 5 stars this produces amongst the best light quality, 28 May 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This LED bulb produces a superb quality light, very bright and white but with sufficient warmth to give it a homely rather than clinical feel. The plastic casing is no bigger than a standard halogen light. It doesn't feel as robust or well built as some of the others, particularly the Philips ones, but then again once it's in the ceiling it doesn't get handled so that's no issue. So far the bulb has performed well, and of all the LED GU10s I have, this produces amongst the best light quality. Very good product.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This food has been more hit and miss than some, with the the Purina One fish ranges being more successful. Like others in the range this looks and smells reasonably appetising. Occasionally this has been wolfed down, but more often ignored with the usual "what do you think you're doing giving me THIS?" glare, which is a real shame. This appears to be excellent quality food, but perhaps not quite to my cats' liking. They do love many of the other flavours in the Purina One range however.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
For the most part my cats have enjoyed this food. The pieces of food within the sauce are small and succulent and were generally well received. Sometimes they were ignored but have better than average acceptance. The food smells appetising and hopefully is of benefit to my indoor cat.

The Gothic: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)
The Gothic: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)
by Nick Groom
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Not just pointed arches and ghost stories, 28 May 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Like all the other books in the "Very Short Introduction" series, this slim volume packs a lot of detail into its pages. Whilst concise and broadly accessible it's also full of information and demands attention, particularly as such a lot of information is presented in a short space of time.

The book provides a lot of information on the Gothic, ranging from the original Goths and their movements in Europe, right up to scary films from the 20th century. It emphasises the fact that the Gothic is a large and sometimes baffling topic, and rather more than just pointed arches and ghost stories.

As good an introduction as any, and full of interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars They're deeply fab, 18 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Megarama (Audio CD)
This beautifully produced set of CDs collects together a wide range of remixes in one superbly produced package, bound in a hardback book. Bananarama's remixes didn't always improve on the originals, but were always such fun and so diverse. There are the classic Stock Aitken Waterman extended versions with each element of the song layering in; there are occasional forays into true dance music and all sorts of interesting nuggets.

There is a mixed bag of mixes here. They are mainly SAW era and later, but some are earlier ( such as the fabulously clunky alternative of 'Na Na Hey Hey'). Some are the standard 12" mixes of the hits (such as 'I Want You Back' and 'Nathan Jones' ) whilst others are completely unreleased. Of course many mixes were included on Edsel's recent Bananarama reissues, so what we have is a rather wonderful collection of leftovers. It's not immediately obvious why the unreleased ones were left in the archive. The 12" of 'Ready or Not' is more of a good thing, and the 'Nathan Jones' mix is better than the released one.

Despite the recent photo of Keren and Sara on the cover these are all London era recordings.

Clearly thought has gone into the track listing so that the same songs in different versions do not appear too closely together. The design is a work of art and packed with scans of the original sleeves and an informative essay discussing the many mixes.

Overall, this is an album for fans and completists. For a casual fan it's not essential, though is still a huge amount of fun. I'd recommend it to anyone. Here's to volume 2!

Dettol Anti-Bacterial Mould and Mildew Remover 750 ml - Pack of 3
Dettol Anti-Bacterial Mould and Mildew Remover 750 ml - Pack of 3
Price: £10.47

5.0 out of 5 stars It works, 4 Mar. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This product does as promised and had removed almost all trace of mould from the surfaces I have tried it on. It is particularly good on grouting in the shower but also the conservatory sealant has shown distinct improvement. It has a pleasant clean scent and the added benefit of being anti bacterial as would be expected from dettol. It is easy to use and requires minimum effort, mainly spraying and rinsing where possible, washing off where not with a cloth.

4.0 out of 5 stars The real John, 3 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This timely examination of the medieval King John's life coincides with the 800th anniversary of the creation of the Magna Carta, the defining event in his reign. The subtitle of this book "the making of a tyrant" does rather set the stall for this book, and like all other accounts of his life he is not described in glowing terms.

However, the author takes great care in portraying the King as he was. The background of Angevin rulers of rather immoral and despotic tendencies is made plain, and John's many trials during civil war and the events leading up to the Magna Carta allow us to examine how he became the way he was. Whilst it hardly portrays a new light to the man, it allows more understanding.

The point is made early on that much of the writings about John are written to fit the view of him that was held rather than appraising the facts. This reappraisal certainly gives us a new angle on the character of John: still a tyrant, but a complex one with issues.

The writing is crisp and readable, making for an enjoyable narrative. Relatively concise (about 300 pages with the last 50 being bibliography and notes) this is an excellent introudction to King John and no doubt an interesting new account for those familiar.

Verbatim 52608 GU10 5 Watt Light Bulb
Verbatim 52608 GU10 5 Watt Light Bulb
Price: £6.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent bulb, 6 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This compact LED GU10 bulb produces a bright warm white light and is an excellent halogen replacement. Unlike some LED bulbs the light is made up of several smaller LED bulbs rather than one big one, but the overall effect is the same and just as bright. The bulb is all plastic and very lightweight, and should fit any GU10 fitting. It is bright enough for all standard applications such as in the kitchen, and is a direct and impressive replacement for a 50W halogen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly efficient British build machine, 6 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
In my experience Ebac dehumdifiers are the best on the market. Their range of features and build quality is second to none and have always given years of reliable service. Plus they are designed and built in the UK, unlike most cheaply produced imported dehumidifiers.

This particular model has an impressive "smart" function which should suit most applications and requires nothing more than simply plugging in and switching on. For my purposes this is perfect and has maintained correct levels of relative humidity whilst removing an impressive amount of water each day. This automatic function can be overriden for damp locations. It also usefully has a laundry function, which automatically switches off after a set period and returns the unit to the automatic function. This is a very useful feature, and does not require the user to cycle through the different settings to return to normal if the boost is required.

The water tank is an excellent design. I have used dehumidifiers at work for years and they are all infuriating when it comes to the tank. They are always awkward to remove, fiddly to empty and generally of poor design. This model however is very easy, resembling a jerry can with an easy to hold handle. The water can simply be poured away with no spills or sloshing.

The machine comes with replaceable filters (suggested life span 4 months if cleaned every month), which can be ordered from Ebac. Their own website has offers on these every so often.

An excellent machine all round and highly recommended. Ebac are the best on the market and this compact and powerful machine is a superb model.
