Curlformers Genuine Patented - Styling Hook for super long hair
Curlformers Genuine Patented - Styling Hook for super long hair
Offered by Curlformers
Price: £3.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't even try without it, 28 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Unless you've got really fine and sleek hair, this is the hook that will let you use curlformers. The (play)things included with the long and extralong sets ("styling kits") are simply useless to pull hair that is thicker, rougher, frizzier -even if one uses small sections of hair, and even speaking of healthy, glossy hair, which is simply not that smooth.
The ones I got kept snapping in half, adding a major hurdle to the learning process.
So, while itching to give the Curlformers company a one-star rating for being so cheap, I'm giving THE hook five stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Faulty product; faultless customer service, 20 Sep 2010
This External Hard Drive (I refer to the HDDR320E04EL model, with 320GB capacity, in case Amazon does some juggling around with this review) worked for about ten days with the somewhat old desktop it was bought for. Then holidays happened. And back from the holidays the purchaser found that the resentful piece of equipment -after all, it IS portable, yet wasn't taken along to the beach- had stopped working. Data were not accessible and the system would become totally sluggish if the hard drive was connected.
Attempts to make it work with other desktops and laptops, with different OS, led to the same result. Very powerful machines would still work, but the drive could not be accessed, and a definite slowing down took place in all cases.
Oh, the holidays also meant that the Amazon "window for returns" got closed while the unfortunate purchaser tried to make the thing work.
Now pinning all hopes on repair/replacement by Toshiba.

Update.
The warranty did indeed work! Toshiba had the drive collected and a replacement sent. It was not the speediest procedure, but it was a minimum hassle one, and then the replacement turned out to be a larger -I mean more capacious- drive. This has been working with no glitches for a few weeks now.
I still think that Toshiba QC malfunctioned (malfunctions?), but kudos are certainly due to their Customer Service.

Eddingtons EasiTwist Jar & Bottle Opener

3.0 out of 5 stars it works... more or less, 20 Sep 2010
It makes opening jars possible, but still requires a better -stronger- grip than I have. Larger jars get opened, but my left hand can't really hold them firm, so liquid contents are invariably spilt :(.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully subdued... and too samey, 18 Jan 2010
This review is from: Casa (Audio CD)
These are good musicians, playing some of the most beautiful music out there -for me, at least- yet the results are uninspiring. I don't know if one can overdo subtlety, or it's me simply "not getting" it. I certainly get nothing beyond a sort of pleasant brush lightly drawn over my ears.

The Little Princess [1939] [DVD]
The Little Princess [1939] [DVD]
Dvd ~ Shirley Temple

3.0 out of 5 stars DVD features largely absent, 6 July 2008
I'm not commenting on the film's quality. (I strongly suspect that everybody reading these reviews already holds Temple to be both adorable and a great actor.) What I would like to point out is that DVD capacity is totally wasted in this product. It should not be described as "main language English", but as "ONLY language English". There are no other dialogue tracks, and it lacks all subtitling, even in English. So forget about any other bells and whistles.
Perhaps I was spoiled by previous DVD purchases, which all included them. Perhaps nobody else would imagine that they would be included, at this price. But, since I would have appreciated being forewarned, here goes my warning to others!

The Life Laundry 2: How to Stay De-Junked Forever
The Life Laundry 2: How to Stay De-Junked Forever
by Dawna Walter
Edition: Paperback

2.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of colour, 28 Jun 2005
I am sure this squarish volume can be viewed as a most "modern" artifact, but I cringed when I opened it and tried to read the light and pale text on a dark background. Actually, the typeface is hard to make out even on the white pages which, admittedly, comprise most of the book.
Could someone thus putting form over substance really have something sound to offer? Turning to the picture of the author's colourful kitchen on page 54, one could quickly answer: No (way!). It is a lovely specimen of a "never cooked-in kitchen".
Yet it seems that Ms Walter has been able to help people give makeovers to their houses and even their lives. I must assume this ability has a great deal to do with the synergy of people from different trades working together. Come to think of it, every extra pair of hands, when you are contemplating a room or house makeover, must make an amazing difference.
If you are thinking of buying this, because you have started to feel crowded-in in your current space, think twice and do a little more research. You can find better-organized directions for dejunking. If you feel both crowded-in and bored with your current space, perhaps the interiors photographed will work as inspiration. Good luck to all!
